they are just like the ones in pic, but all the ones I hauled were 6 to 7 ft tall. figure 3 in pic is what wise expects. NO chains.

I have no problem hauling coils without chains.
Here's 3-28k's "Straps Only"

Here's a single 71k with no straps!

Some of these guys should be more concerned with their weak trailers than the number of straps/chains. You can put 100 chains on a load but when the flimsy wagon breaks at the neck it isn't going to matter!

Saw this brand new "jewel" yesterday. Fontaine seems to be trying to take the title of weakest flat away from Benson/Transcrack. They're latest creation the Revolution Hybrid makes some serious claims but seems to fall short backing them up.
Quotes from they're brochure
Now the reality.....This trailer only has 2-15k coils (waiting on the 3rd) the back coil currently on the trailer is loaded at the center point and the other is just in front of it. "Ride the wave!"

Does anyone know anything about the company that had the link to their illustration?
-
Les2 probably would, he's real close to them.JimTheHut Thanks this.

How much does a trailer like that cost?? If I ever decided to go coil opnly like just about everyone else here near the mills, I'd deff be interested in getting something like that. just AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
-
You just take a regular flat and cut the floor out between the rails.
-
Same here, your better using a 4" strap over a coil pad as trip chain on Aluminum.
-
Hey Les, do you know anything about the company that has that illustration? -
Yeah, but I don't care for them. There is a lot worse companies to work for though.
IIRC, they pay percentage and have decent equipment. With you living in central Ohio you should get home weekly and maybe even during the week. You live in the Columbus area don't you?
It wouldn't hurt to give them a call, but make sure to ask about taking the truck home.
