I replied....thanks again. Like Isaid the only complaint I'm hearing is ...not home every weekend. I can take that, if Im getting good mile and that wallet gets fatter. Then maybe transfer to flatbed in a yr or so. Thanks again and it should not be hard to find you out there if everyone knows you by notarps. I' ll just ask the company ..." whos the guy discrasing the company " hhahaahaa. I read an earlier post.

Notarps is an old handle. Thay all laughed when I was asked what my handle was. Notarps is a legend and known world wide!
If I were to change my handle that would be like Superman with out the cape!

Any specialized drivers out there with advice any comments ?
-
well, based off my research of companies, maverick specialized is ran like schnider, and then you have schnider. So really your choices are Schnider Flatbedding, Schnider Van, and Roehl. Roehl was also a company among my top picks and I would go to them over schnider any day of the week. But trucking companies are all different and are better depending on what you want.

Well, I got my CDL on Friday the 21st of Sept and called Maverick like they told me to. I have the two DWI's from 18 and 16 years ago which is why they wouldn't sponsor me in the first place. The recruiter said she thinks it'll be ok but Safety may not sign off on me. I feel like it's a 70% deal in my favor. We shall see.
I wish when a company lists it's qualifications, they would really list them. Maverick's qualifications are no DWI within 5 years. Well, based on that I certainly qualify. What ever happened to honesty? If you don't want to see more than one, THEN SAY SO FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. -
I applied with Maverick this past week .... looking to get back over the road again .... she asked me if I wanted to be home every weekend .... told her NOPE .... asked if I was ok with being out 2 - 3 weeks at a time .... said yeap .... as long as it is possible to try and get the offtime around Milwaukee, WI and Charlotte, NC .... where my kids are
Other than that I told her dont matter .... so I am sure she was happy about that one .... being single does have its advantages I guess .... I am hoping to hear from them soon about it all .... wanting outta the company I am with now
Running a straight fuel truck locally in Raleigh area .... company has become s**** lately .... no raise in 2 years and to many hurdles .... so giving up on local and going for the gold you could say
Glad that I found this thread and thanks for alot of the information on here NoTarps .... was looking at TMC .... but with the information I found on them and hearing what you have said about Maverick .... I think I will stick with Maverick as long as they approve me

Yes, this is true. My husband gets home late Friday nite or as late Saturday around noon, depending on where he is and then has to leave Sunday afternoon. We are in the boonies here and the out of route miles are significant. It would not be quite so bad if we lived near a major highway, at least that is what we figure. Where we live, it is 45 miles to the main interstate highway.

Most of their trucks are automatic. My husband likes it but also thinks it can be a disadvantage, as he will get rusty the longer he drives an auto.

You have to pay for the in cab email. It is kind of high. Most use cells or laptops. It is a good company. I talked to a couple of their students that did not have CDL's. They said they put them in a house trailer for school. Said they liked the school and it was free. I think they said they were paid 400 a week for training and had to work for them for 6 months to pay off the school. Orientation is a week paid 550 bucks and load securement training is paid 400 bucks for 1 week then you will be with a trainer. Good luck to you! There is a $500 sign on bonus as well.
Actually no tarps, Training is paid 500, load securement is only 2-3 days in fort smith. I get hired today hopefully, I passed my initial roadtest tues. This place is great, I feel as though there is a great sense of pride among everyone here just in training. They quickly got rid of the people with bad attitudes, fine by me. This place is a FAR FAR cry from werner. Please people check these guys out for your own good.
