Rock slide on I40

Is this on that 14m twisty section of I40?...I always hated that area as it seemed I always got behind someone that couldn't even maintain the low speed limit there...

Yeah that's exactly where it is. it seems like this happens every winter.

 

Earlier today, a small slide occurred around MM7 in NC, so who knows when the thing will finally open....there have been discussions for some time about re-routing I-40 around that area, but it's terribly expensive.

 

The rumor for a decade since completion of i26 is to turn that part of I40 into scenic route banning commercial vehicles. And forcing everyone to run the new I26. But the current hold up is the bottle neck in ashville where u get on I26.
