landing gear down, drop the trailer, and uncrew bolts kingpin is held with.
some manufacters (Krone, Fliegl) recomend to use new bolts and thread lock (blue only).
really it is not a hard deal. -
I just did mine with a friends help whom knows welding real good.
most likely you cant un do the bolts do to rust so they need to be torched off, you need the purchase a new plate and the king pin after you center the kingpin to the plate it needs too be welded with braces( when you remove the old plate you will see how is done) after all this you will drill new holes and counter sink them for the plate near the old holes ,it will help you to not to be precise with hole placement. and use new high test bolts to finish installation.most metal supply places will have the universal plate for sale.it should cost arround $500.00 for plate ,king pin and the new bolts. -
Is the plate welded and bolted to the trailer or just bolts?

it is a story about very old and rusty trailer!!! usually if you lubricate fifth wheel no rusty bolts there....!!!!
It is recomended to inspect king pin with gauge.

simple thing, better then check it with caliper.
But I'd recomen you inspect fifth wheel too -
I had a cracked plate on a Transcrap I had. Unfortunately when they pulled the floor it need structural replacements as well thanks to rust. $1500 for the whole job.

only bolts no weld to the trailer
-
We are talking about Kingpin not the fifth wheel there is a difference in America
-
I don't know where they are but there is an outfit that will come out to you and rebuild the kingpin without removing it from the trailer. Other than the flooring there are no bolts holding the kingpin it is strictly a weld in unit. It is alot of work to replace one.

I got a quote for $1700 to do an East flat to replace the pin/plate and move it from 24" to 30". $800 in parts and $900 in labor.
A local guy moved his pin on a 50' spread axle Kentucky double drop. I can't find the pics he took but it originally had a 60" pin setting.
His 5th wheel had to be set over his rear drive axle, sure that rode awesome.
