At the Iowa 80. The truck got back yesterday so I could get going. I wanted to come out and get close to the shipper but my fuel card was messed up from the system meltdown so I couldn't get fuel at a Pilot. They resolved the issue but since it took awhile to get it fixed I just got fuel this morning and headed to Defiance, OH for a drop and hook. Headed to Sioux Falls, SD.

I was told to pickup a relay 90 miles further east of Blythwood that delivers in Atl at 7 am. The relay was 3 1/2 hours late. So I'm shut down at the TA about 60 miles east of Atl. Looks like the load will be late. What pisses me off is your told to get up and after it and when you do & they're planning drops the ball and you say pay me something for waiting & they say the equivalent of F U. Bottom line its a two way street ;) I still have a little on my clock, but sitting most of the afternoon in the truck without services waiting for a load has caused me to shut it down now & get a decent meal and hot shower. Be sure to tune into my other thread tomorrow recapping the week & how I got screwed out of unloading pay that was from the 1st week in January.

    More than likely waiting.

You ever go to bar over by the Loves. I was doing a 34 a couple summers ago and mosied over there. There was this incredibly gorgeous blonde - I mean normal people gorgeous, not trucker gorgeous, tending the bar. Then on closer examination this beautiful women is COVERED with tattoos. Not just pictures, but lines and lines of text, poems, prayers, or whatevers. She had so many, it was like mutilation. I think she started telling stories about being an Army Ranger. But she sure was gorgeous - until she took off the long sleeves and opened her mouth.

No I haven't, I try to stay away from bars when I'm out even during a 34. Not a conversation I want to have with FM and Safety...LOL!

Late relay load happened to me once too. When the driver arrived 5.5 hours late he said that he didn't realize anyone was waiting on the load. YOU ALWAYS ASSUME SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR THE RELAY!!!

Anyway ended up costing me 1700 miles but after a conversation with my Fleet Ops Manager, they made it up to me. The key in this business is to stick up for yourself and pick your battles wisely.

Why not? My favorite conversation when I was working at Roehl was a driver telling me he couldn't do his pre plan because he was drinking at lunch, but it was ok because they were just little beers.

Had them put a relay on me after taking away a preplan they had just sent me. had to deadhead 180 miles to meet him, got there and he wasn't, called said he would be there @ 1900 it was 1400 i was told to be there to meet. come 2030 still no driver, called in, said he was delayed would be at 2300.. by 0730 the next morning still no show. called in and was told " oh we went ahead and sent him all the way with it".. never told me crap.. and worse of it I never got paid for the 180 miles i ran to meet the relay. and i was a I/C so it was my fuel.... fought over it for weeks trying to get paid and was told there was no record of me setup to relay with him. so they screwed up and just deleted it out of the system so it never showed anything.... S.O.B's still over me them miles lol...
