What is going on in the NW? I am in Oregon and use to haul cars but got out of it to go flat bedding. Been thinking of doing some cars but I cant get a idea of whats going on as central dispatch wont let me see the load board without paying for a month of membership. I used my free trial a few years ago. Any input would be appreciated.

Its not only the NW. This seems to be a trend which is flowing throughout the United States. All the Brokers and third party people who are involved have "bastardized" the business and driven prices right down to the floor. THe only thing you can do is get the accounts yourself and eliminate the BROKER, or call the company up and just be straight with them and ask for more money. Sometimes they say no, and sometime they come across with a little bump in pay. Central Dispatch is still alive and kicking and caters to the broker types. My advice is to establish accounts on your own and only use Central as a last resort to return trip and fill the truck.

Uship is another location which is killing the biz. Its pretty much an Ebay for hauling. But a quick look at the TV will show you a new Reality TV Show. Its called Shipping Wars. Just watch one episode and you will find several state and federal violations all over the place. Its a typical example of people involved in this business who have no business being here. I have only been doing this for one year but I am totally legit and I pay thru the nose for every single thing I have on my truck and trailer. I never fear Law Enforcement and drive comfortably knowing that I am legal.

Its a shame that between the Government and the crooked ### operators that the legit folks have to suffer. Like anything else, a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Hopefully fuel will fall a bit and a better economy will creep forward giving us more opportunity.

Hope I'm not being to forward here. I understand I am new to the forum, but I have to speak my mind and defend the upstanding business owner who puts it out there and risks hard earned cash to stay in business. I know you hard working guys know who you are.
