A couple I've met have said that they've threatened to quit if changed over because they "weren't ready." I'm sorry but things change and you should be ready to change with the times, especially in this industry.

Must really want to keep them. I
would think the company would just be like "ok, bye."

MY two cents on the "old." IMO, anyone who doesn't want to change over to E-logs its for one reason, they can log how they want to, legal or not. A computer is not telling them you are over your 14, or 11 and they can hide hours here and there. To me the e-logs are much easier for many things, but I do have some complaints and wish I had some of the flexibility. All in all, if Roehl is an E-log company, then EVERYONE should be E-log.
Besides if that's what we are waiting for to have the Scanner and the navigation it's time to change. Why have a system that you don't use all of the bells and whistles?
Before anyone says paper is better, I said IMO! I drove years ago on paper and now with E-logs. I love computers and would rather do the computer. It's MY OPINION, nothing more.

"Move along now, nothing to see!"

Going to add my 2 cents on the "old". Young people don't understand that some of the older drivers are not computer literate. Many of the older drivers are close to retirement. All these changes in the industry is difficult to manage after many, many years of doing thing by paper. Don't say "well then they should retire." We loose a lot of knowledge when the seasoned old timers leave. Many enjoy driving. If the company is ok with them still using paper then what's it to you? The scanning has been an issue for several years now. Supplying 1800-2000 trucks with scanner is very costly. Which would you rather have...a scanner or new equipment (trucks and trailers)? Can only make the buck stretch so far and freight is low and rates are not the best at present and equipment is failing.

    DrFlush Thanks this.

I was told by safety that the home time drivers have to continue doing paper logs and the e-logs together to cover the gaps during slipseating the trks.
In other words when you launch there is no previous e-log data, and you need the paper log to show a more complete picture of your history. I got a driver dot inspection in Indiana and thought ah oh . explained to officer roehls policey and showed him my paper logs and paper work and it was no problem , heck he didnt even check the e-logs and sent me on my way.

I doubt drivers still on paper logs is holding any new quallcom tools from being used.

personally I really dont see roehl going to in truck scanning, or turning on the gps system, to do one or both is going to be a considerble cost in equipment and programing. It is possible that roehl would offer in trk scanning to individual drivers that want to pay for a scanner and to use it , just like the ez/pre-pass setup you pay a small fee for this tool.

That stinks, what's the point of doing both? Just do paper and you're covered. That's bs to have to do both.

I totally agree but thats what safety dept told me, they also told me the paper log over rules the e-log , but the catch is you have to call safety and clear it with them first. :biggrin_2554: look on my face after getting off the phone!
