Here is the best reason you don't run your tandems all the way back,

This might be common knowledge, but for me it's a new one. It might not even be good knowledge...I dunno, but if you keep your trailer mudflap 50" or more from the back of your trailer, you should be ok, at least in Virginia.
-
Both correct. Having the weight of the tandem axles, tire, rims, brakes, etc at the farthest point to the rear of the trailer would make trailer more stable. Maybe not legal, but more stable.
-
we are not talking about weight distribution, we are talking about having the tandems all the way back in the wind, allows the weight of the tandems to keep the back end of an empty right side up.JustSonny Thanks this. -
When I was a local driver we pulled 57foot trailers(legal in tx) with tandems all the way back. Load wasn't going but 100 miles and all the trls were pieces of sheet so tadems were a beach to slide. We all just said f it an drove it the way we got it from dc. Never any problems

Load out of NY and NJ late on friday evening, they will be closed by the time you get back, and they know you aren,t going to wait there till monday. Oh and the majority of companys are not going to pay you for staying till monday. IN REAL LIFE ANYWAY.
-
The trailer that I pull the most starts at 57 feet and goes to 82 feet in five foot increments.
