The new General looks sweet but I don't know about the internal amp in the radio"LOT OF HEAT".I would not be scared of a connex 3300hp or a galaxy 33, both good time tested radios and about the same price.$199 to $265 on line. The general falls just a little over that at a 120 watts after tune. The next one up would be a connex 4400hp witch is a 5 watt difference. I my self run a connex 3300HP with a Texas star DX500V,More dame power then I need LOL:biggrin_2551:

Yeah, but that's the way to do it, even if you only run a small amp. These new radios with the new type finals aren't gonna last and take the abuse like the older radios.

    :biggrin_2556: WHAT Mike :biggrin_2556:

You don't want the NEWEST and GREATEST ......

    My FT-620B uses a 2Sc1307 a older ver of the 2SC1969 .... it is almost 40 years old .... still works ......

My guess is the new ones are fine IF you run them corectly .....

They as a rule don't last if you over heat them ...

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Which is my point. Used by the "average" CB using truck driver, I think you will see more failures with the newer radios than we did with the older ones.
