Ok, my husband has been OTR for a year. 1st 6 months, he worked for Eagle with a Werner dispatcher. He did about 3 months under the Dollar Gen account (shudder). All this making .26/mi and less miles than promised (of course.)

He moved on to Knight making .33/mi. He has been stuck more and overall making much less miles. The paychecks are so small sometimes I need a microscope to see them.

He wants to move on, either back to Eagle where he at least he had a Pete or anything else.

    Our priorities:
hometime at least every 3 weeks.
Lots of miles. He was supposed to be a 48 driver, but they keep him regional for some reason.
    Attainable delivery windows.
    Dry van

Do you have any ideas of companies that hire out of AZ? I keep searching, but I'm not coming up with much.

    Thank you! :biggrin_25526:

I have a friend who works for Heartland out of their Phoenix terminal and she is home every weekend.

I have another friend who works for Crete out of their Phoenix terminal, but is not home nearly as often.

Not really. We've heard things that make us nervous. Crete doesn't look like they are hiring out of Phx, but I'll keep checking. Heartland looks like it's mostly regional.

    Thanks for the referrals!

Yeah, I know, but they treated me really good from 2008 - 2009.

Though they did try messing with me about my idle time while I was in Buffalo in the middle of winter, and this was after they sent out a memo on the QC that if was below 40 degrees to idle the truck.:biggrin_2556:

Another company to look at though is Hill Brothers.. They're 48 state and haul both reefer and dry. I believe you gotta have Hazmat..

Have you considered Duncan and Sons from there in Phoenix, or Manuel Huerta out of Rio Rico? I think May has a terminal in Phoenix and so does Watkins\Shepard.

Staragate, where in AZ are you? If your near Kingman, IWX has a terminal there.

I'm in Tucson. I talked to my husband and he's so freaked out by broken promises I think he may stick with the "devil he knows". He doesn't want to ever be with a trainer again and he's sick of corporate games. I'll keep taking notes on companies in case he changes his mind. He currently is out for 3 weeks, commutes home from Phx for his 3 days off. He's being punished by Knight for taking his full three days. He was done Friday night and they wanted him to take a load Sunday! That isn't hometime, that's a layover. They sent him to the black hole that is L.A. and there are so many other Knight drivers out there, it's hard to get out of the city.
