Exactly!
I can only drive 700 or so miles in 11 hours and can hold 300 gal, so i fuel everynight when i park to get the free shower, to save 15 min of my 70, and i never have to worry about fuel.

I carry 300 gallons too and I start looking for fuel around 900 miles.. I am sure I can go further and have..but I know when and WHERE i am going to fuel...I ran out of fuel once back in 1989 cuz of a bad fuel guage..I SWORE it would NEVER EVER happen a second time and it hasnt...just as YOU WILL NEVER RUN OUT OF FUEL EVER AGAIN...Red Hot Mess Thanks this. -
I have 100 gal tanks and at 800 miles I fill back up. I don't want to be running out of fuel because it will cost me at least $300 to call out a service truck.
And yes, it is your fault that u ran it out of fuel. May I ask why u waited so long to fuel?? -
I agree with the rest and never run it down to 1/4 tank or less. Fuel sloshes around and the level is low enough with that sloshing that it may not get picked up so it runs crappy when its not getting enough fuel and then you have that danger of being out. I run full tanks and fuel at 1/2 and will shoot anyone trying to steal it
Red Hot Mess Thanks this. -
I ran out once in -10 weather out in the boondocks, wasn't fun, nearly froze, wouldn't recommend it! Just don't chance it!

The fuel level gauge in this Columbia hasn't worked in almost three years. Every night when we shut down I record the gallons used for the day off the PeopleNet, then zero it out. The ECM's accurate and I usually don't fuel until it needs 250 gallons or more. 1850 to 2,200 miles between tankfuls- and it will start cutting out at the 270 gallon mark.

Na it's not your fault, I siphoned alittle from you earlier in the day. Sorry man.
Hammer166, MS Lady Trucker and SmoothShifter Thank this. -
Lol @ ^
Are they going to charge the service call? I know some refuelers charge expensive per gallon on top of service call.
I almost ran out of fuel once. Got to the pumps and as im idling to let engine cool down, the truck cut off. Ohh sheet.. wtf! I check fuel filter level and empty. Cheeck driver side, 1/8th. Passenger side empty. Dang. Never did that again.
Volvos are notorious for elctrical problems. Fuel sender never worked right from the git. Oh well. -
and if ya came down I-16 from macon you passed a loves at exit 49 and a pilot at the 51 and several other mom and pops.
if ya got a fuel card and can get fuel , why not stop/ your next fuel stop headed east was the pilot at dean forest exit 160 on i-16 or the pilot at exit 109 on 95 north or the loves going south at the 94 exit
unless you had to stop at a ryder shop, which you passed by also
yeah its your fault -
There are a couple million old dead truckers turning over in their graves right now. FIRST THING I WAS EVER TAUGHT about big trucks. You DO NOT trust the fuel gauge. Use a stick or eye ball it.
