If you are a driver looking for work stay away from Texas Star Express and their programs to get you into your own truck because you will not make it. I was in the office and I know that they don't treat there drivers right and they don't pay worth a pug nickel either. They talk big and try their best to sucker you in so run away fast if you are thinking about them. :biggrin_25521:

Those are never good programs for the driver, but the company can't lose. Too bad, at one time they were a decent outfit to work for. But like so many other companies, they have turned into poop...........

well I worked there 8 years and every year they got worse to drivers. They offer them a chance to own a truck but it was a used truck and the things didn't hold up and drivers was losing money like crazy. They are still doing it right now and I just can't see that is right. The driver puts down 1000 dollars and then drives the truck like a company driver if they get guaranteed maintenance and usually if they complain to much they find a reason to get rid of them before truck is paid for and they sale it to another driver and that goes on till the truck is paid for or if the get into a truck without the guaranteed maintenance then if they blow a motor tuff stuff they won't help the driver. Also they make drivers pay if they get the truck stuck or if they have something happen and it might or might not be the drivers fault they take it out of their checks. Also if they was such a good company they would have not got into the financial problems they are in now and drivers need to beware of that because if they go under so does that driver if he is in one of them lease purchase plans.

Just quit the company today, most unprofessional office workers in the world. I loved Payroll and Safety, but Operations wasn't worth a ####, I'll make a separate post naming names!

Just quit them last week. Was doing there lease purchase deal just couldn't make it with the fuel prices and the truck only getting 5.25 mpg try everything slowing down to 62 mph changing the oil every 12,000 put the trucks are way under power and 80% of there loads are either scrape paper or roll stock which weigh around 45,000 lots and lots of heavy loads over there. Wouldn't be so bad if they paid there owner ops and lease drivers the fuel surgcharge that their charging their customers, there so bold in the office right in dispatch on the dry erase board they put up every week what there charging there customers and it's always about .25 to .30 more then what they pay us, I question them about it and there answer was we pay y'all on empty and loaded well I told them y'all can keep the empty miles fuel surcharge and pay me the correct fuel surgcharge and I will make out better, not going to happen.

Also it seem like every Friday you'll get the same old message (hey fleet just a heads up freight is really slow in the DFW area) I probably hot that message 3 out 4 weeks in a month it so slow around there right now they start planning Tuesday del on thurdays and expect you to be happy with 800-900 miles for 5 days. The funniest thing is they tell you July is normally a slow month for us and you told me the same thing in December, January and February and on and.

Well my point is they don't have any miles they think you can pay for a truck that only gets 5.25 mpg and not paying there drivers the correct fuel surcharge. And just for your information my lease truck had a APU on it and my idle time was anywhere between 5-6% so I wasn't wasting fuel idling. The engine was a C-13 acert worst engine ever.

Some of your negative input about this company is very slanted and unfair to those seeking employment as a truck driver or lease operator. I worked for TSE for 2 years and I met with huge financial success. I worked as a company driver and as a lease operator. I left the company to pursue something outside of the industry or I would still be there today. Those of you that are posting all this wicked and twisted news are probably among those that "refused loads, stayed home longer than promised, sent in false ETA's or just plain sat on your butt. I had plenty of miles and plenty of the same frustrations that all trucking jobs come with. This is a wonderful company and it ran by wonderful people. If you have time to post hateful things about TSE, then it speaks volumes about what you did with your time when you were there. My name is Jimmy and I approve this message.

That's what these blogs are for.... posting the PRO's as well as the CON's. You get out what you put in. As with any company in this industry, you must find a balance that works for you.
