14l Det- 2004 freightskaher columbia.
I was told (dont know if this correct) that water temp and oil temp should be the same.
Under a load- usually 42-45k- even with cold weather conditions, my oil temp is right around 200F maybe 5 under. I had the radiator replaced about a year back and had new thermosats put in as well. What could be done to lower the temp? I was told the temp should be around 185 or so.
What could be wrong? Turbo and EGR cooler were also replaced last year.
Thank You
Oil temp running high.

+1, oil temp is always hotter than coolant. 200-210 degrees or so, normal.
Ezrider_48501 Thanks this. -
On my 06 cat acert it runs 205 15deg more than my coolant

Like they said, anything around 200° is normal, when the engine is working! And also you don't won't oil temp to run to low either, then it won't boil off moisture and condensation that forms in the crank case from the temp changes.

Thank you for your replies. I was told I was being paranoid and you guys confirmed that. Heh- thank you for your help.

My cummins isx normal temp when cruising 220 and coolant 185
I wouldn't worry -
My Cat must be weird. Oil and water temp are about the same. Actually oil temp always runs at 175* on the gauge while the water temp shows from 188* to 192* on CAT information display. I imagine the real oil temp is right with the water temp. On a hot day oil can go as high as 200* and on cold days it will drop down to 150*, and start consumining oil as well down that low.. 200-215* oil temp sounds normal for egr engines in general...
