myself and a few others run the mountains out west all the time..Its not as bad as it seems. I cant tell you the number of trucks ive seen smoking the brakes like a mosquito fogger going down some of the grades out here when its so unnecessary. I begin to wonder who taught these drivers on down hill grades.. drop it down a few gears and flip on the jakes or better yet if your unsure of your abilities pull off at the brake check area and start from there. with time you will learn your comfort zone and be fine...

PA does have some very steep grades....but not a single one of them is 30-40 miles long.

I,ll have to look up the actual specs of it, but the climb up from sac begins just oast roseville with the small grade and peaks out around truckee some 85 miles then down hill to reno, roseville to reno is about 100 miles, great veiws though.

But don,t get be wrong most of that is soft rolling hills and you hardlt know yourw going up or down, really follow the signs and be awake , donner is no big deal, and don,t use your jakes here in the winter at all, black ice lives on donner.
