Ok, I did the search for this and I didn't find anything so if anyone is aware of a link to help me out that would be awesome...

So, I have definitely decided I am going to lease my truck onto a company and the two I am currently looking at are; Mercer and Landstar. Their websites don't go into to much specifics as far as leasing on so I was wondering..

What are some good/important questions I can ask each company on the phone so I can decide which is the better company for me personally.

Appreciate any help as always :)

#1 question I'd ask is how much is the pay.

Also if they provide plates, permits, and what the fuel surcharge is.

    Robm78 Thanks this.

If % pay, clarify % of what ? Gross or net. Any escrow acct ? FSC ? ALL deducts from your settlement. Plates paid, IFTA ? Any trailer maintenance fees ?

    Robm78 and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

At Mercer, you have a dispatcher, and trucks are dispatched on a first in, first out basis.
At Landstar, you book your own freight from agents, and you are expected to build relationships with those agents. It is very similar to running your own authority. Some guys don't do well here as they like to have a dispatcher find them loads.
Pay at either one will be determined by the type of trailer and capacity in the local area.

I personally like Landstar's system over Mercer's and I do well at LS.
