Subject: Warning Notice - Unlicensed Radio Operation
    Case #EB-2007-2954
    Dear Sir:
Information before the Commission indicates that two of your drivers have been operating radio equipment without a license on 28.085 MHz and causing interference to licensed stations in the 10 meter amateur band.
The drivers were observed operating unlicensed on September 21, 2006 at 4:45 PM in tractors displaying the numbers 2069 (hauling trailer #30877) and 2079 (hauling trailer # 30937)
Please advise your drivers that operation of radio transmitting equipment without a license is a violation of Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. Section 301, and will subject them to fine or imprisonment, as well as an in rem seizure of any non-certified radio transmitting equipment, in cooperation with the United States Attorney for your jurisdiction. Monetary forfeitures normally range from $7,500 to $10,000.

You are requested to contact me at 717-338-2502 to discuss this matter. cc: FCC South Central Regional Director

This is just one of many in the last few years , When a driver sat next to me and keyed up his radio with over 500 watts and burned up my radio I asked him nicely if he would get me another radio, He unpolitely told me to F off where I then took the information and turned it into riley Hollingsworth the aqbove was not a result of that but it does happen I am an amateur radio Operator myself and have been for many years. The end result is that he could have went in and purchased me a cheap old Uniden which I have and I would have dropped it. even though they are illigal, There is no reason to run power just to #### chat in a truck stop. BTW the Company did send me a new radio in the mail after they were contacted by the FCC and warned. All I wanted was my radio replaced but there are Die Hard Hams that if they see you will report it.

The government has too much to worry about. Like drunk, and just plain dangerous drivers to care about the high powered cb radios. Unless these people are using the ham band illegally. IMO!

Sure I believe that human nature changes when a radio operator gets his license. Not. A certain percentage of people are A holes, that doesnot change. Not even for a extra class license. Get a life, the FCC has a lot more important things to do then chase a bunch of wining ham radio crybabies. Or the would have cleaned up places like vegas and there thousand watt amps. Wish they would take care of the abusers, but they havent and odds are that as long as they dont interfer with a money making enterprise they wont.

Leave the truckers alone they have enough to put up with without dealing with crying ham's..

what about taking care of those so called "professional" ham radio operators, that blab all day and night in a lot of cities around the US, on channel 19, just to rile up the drivers up there? Because they are licensed they can do that without a problem? I think they need to clean up in their own back yard, before worrying about us.

Okay so I am a "crybaby" ham operator? I never have known a "professional" ham operator going to channel 19 to "rial" truck drivers. I have been in radio for 20 years and have yet to meet a ham that spends his time on the cb unless its a fellow driver that uses the thing for his job.

Take a trip to Arkansas, close to Hot Springs. There is a guy on certain days that gets on 19 with his ham and talks about how if those "stupid truckers" out there went to school like he did they could be sitting in their living room all day instead of that "dumb ol truck". I get really tired of hearing this guy because I can pick him up forever. Even if I tune my radio down he comes through clear. It gets old... fast. :biggrin_2552:

tell WHICH radio is transmitting in amongst a LOAD of other transmitters, tell WHAT highway you are on and WHICH EXIT YOU ARE PASSING AT THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sad10: I have RIDDEN WITH FCC AGENTS AND SEEN THEIR EQUIPMENT!!!!!!!!!!!

That is just plain BS. They lock on you by pin pointing the direction and then driving till the signal gets stronger and stronger until they are right beside you. They can not tell what exit you're passing or what highway you're on unless they are right behind you going down and passing the same exit. Ridding with a FCC agent and seeing their equipment is one thing but knowing what the equipment can and can't do is another. When the FCC gets to you they turn down the receive on their equipment and that helps them know about the watts you are running before they go in to ensure they have probable cause. A radio signal is a wave and they pin point it and narrow it down as they move and time.

All you might do is scare the kids away. Halloween is this month try it on them.
Do I run legal yes but it is because I choose to not from the myth you're spreading.

FCC can get truckers all they have to do is drive on the same roads and fall in behind you it would be like a turkey shoot at a turkey farm. But they don't have the manning or time. They are a government agency you know.

They can tell what exit your on, LMAO on that one:biggrin_25523:
