Okk, soo I have sort of a bum eye I'm far sighted and an astigmatism... whatever that means. I'm 20/100 without glass with glass i'm 20/40-20/50, so everyone has been talking about this "blue card" you get from your optometrist well I don't have a blue card. So I got a valid written exam paper that was printed out online from my optomology office, saying I was 20/40 in my left eye with corrective lenses signed and license numbered and everything from the optomologist. I'm just wondering should I just take this paper with me too the dmv when I take my permit I mean you can't override what a health care PROFESSIONAL says right?
Lol, I probably won't stop bumping this thread until I get a professional answer to this.
Eye exam... waiver?

I'm not sure what is required as far as eyesight goes....but I imagine you'd get a better answer from a doctor that gives DOT physicals, call one and ask.

I looked it up...
You're qualified if...
Possible exceptions....though not always granted

Lol, I cannot wait to be one myself. If this doesn't seem to workout and for some reason they don't take my paper I was thinking about driving a bus(greyhound, martz, etc)? Someone told me the vision requirements are harder for a bus and some told me they aren't.

You most certainly cannot haul people around if your vision is any less than 20/40....read what I posted up there...it is accurate.
Here is where I found it.... http://dmv.ca.gov/dl/driversafety/cdl_guidelines.htm -
Okk I totally understand but from what I read is if I have this valid paper from my professional doctor it said I'm 20/20 in both eyes with corrective lens, 20/40 in my bed eye and 10/20! in my left eye. It said if I have a problem seeing at the dmv like the snellen chart perhaps that I will have to get a paper from a doctor saying i'm 20/40 in my bad eye. That was all read on this site.
Bump, if anyone can confirm it would be highly appreciated.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 11, 2012

You will see Vision Package, under that is a .pdf link, >> http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/safetyprograms/Vision/vision-exemption-package0706.pdf
Hope that helps
