Why don't you want to go to Canada?

You got it backward, He was saying you can't haul them from the US into Canada.

Not sure on this. I do know that I have hauled all types of produce from the US into Peak of the Market in Winnepeg.

We have guys that will haul it from down south or whatever then drop the trailer in Grand Forks and refuse to go to Winnepeg even though they can go there. Then some of us get dispatched to finish the run for them. I have done it a few times but the pay sucked for how long it took to make the run so I don't do them anymore. I told the dispatcher that if the original driver excepted the load then he can finish the load.

But I hate Canada. Spent the better part of 3 years running up there every day getting raw spuds to bring down into facilities here in ND to be processed into french fries etc.

But they do have some nice fishing lakes up there. I used to have a place on Lake Of the Woods in northern Minnesota and used to run my boat up into Ontario all the time. Lots of islands etc to hide behind to get out of the wind etc.

Maybe. I'd be friendlier to Canada if they would stop sending us that cold air every winter!

They are loving the WARM air we have been sending this year , way above normal temperatures and NO SNOW in Most of Southern , Central Ontario.

The IDAHO SPUDS were not wanted by Canada or Japan at 1 time has they were found to have a fungus in them. Many of the seed potatoes for IDAHO come from Canada

Going into Canada isn't the problem. I don't carry firearms, porn or more than a carton of cigarettes at a time. It's coming back to my own country that's a PITA. They would see fit to confiscate my religious feathers because there is no way to prove I've had them for years.

Meanwhile, as they are taking three hours interrogating me, the guy with the explosives bound for DC floats right on through because they aren't allowed to "profile."

    Go figure.

I've heard from several drivers that the agents will sometimes hassle drivers who have groceries in their truck, especially fresh produce. I carry lots of fresh food with me, and I simply won't risk some jerk on a power trip forcing me to throw it away. Food is too expensive. Nor will I work without a food stash. So I don't cross. There is plenty of work for me here in the States.

Hmm, I just get asked if I have firearms, explosives or anyone else in the truck with me. One slow night the Canadian Customs agent even went online to look up what -7 Celsius was in Fahrenheit since I heard that's what the temperature was in Montreal that night. Then we got into a lovely discussion about how much of a pain it is to convert between the two.

What do you need as a motor carrier to operate in Canada? We have a new customer that ships up there from time to time. We just renewed our plates and added the western provinces to the apportioning. Got a passport. Do you have to get a Canadian DOT number, and what's this FAST card? I take it that is something to clear the driver faster?

Celsius to Fahrenheit: Multiply by 1.8 and add 32.

Fahrenheit to Celsius: subtract 32 and divide by 1.8.

    -7 x 1.8 = -12.6. -12.6 + 32 = 19.4.
Weathermen like to round off decimals, so your temp was 19*F.

If I want to vandalize with graffiti I have to write in English and French. If you don't Dan Aykroyd will come after you.

I don't go because of a drug possession in my past. I've actually been to Canada many times since that but I have a feeling I won't get in with the truck.
