Ive got to hand it to Stevens. My final paycheck hit the bank today. So far it appears that everything is correct including reimbursement for the meat lock and load locks.

All I have heard is they will screw you around on the last check and they will hold it for 30 days, etc. This was not my experience. Dont know if my being a company driver had anything to do with that or not.

Went in today and got all of the paperwork taken care of this morning for the new job. Start on Monday.

So sitting in Ontario, my trainer is here and has been for two days, tis the way around here.

Loving my job right now, the money could be better but Im not getting to emotionally involved with that right now. I am learning more everyday and still love the job.

Dont know if you remember my little incident on the yard story, the one where I got into a pinch in the fuel isle.....embarrassing. Anyway put a little dent in the step, called kenworth, new step is 260.00 Thought it would be a wash, haven't heard anything about it. Till.......I got my last settlement. Stevens started taking $50 a week outta my pay for and accident. Called insurance and asked what it was for and why did no one call me and let me know anything. She told me they assign a dollar value o the damage before an estimate is given or any repairs are done, its just what they do. OK...no prob I can except responsibility for my actions, so how much are you charging me? Oh until we have the shop look at it we always access any body damage at 2500-4000 .....WHAT? So you are on the hook for 5-1500. So let me get this right, you are charging me weekly to repair something you have not even had looked at let alone replaced or fixed? And a $280.00 dollar step is estimated at 2500-4000 im in shock but it is what it is. She told me that once I get back to the yard and the shop looks at it whatever overpayment I have made will be reimbursed to me......hmmmmmmm.

Like I said, my fault so whatever. I love driving, hitting docks. Ive had a little more issues than I thought I would have by now. I do things by the book, and still made a few mistakes that are hurting me.

Im Stevens loyal for now, not giving up.....just getting started. This is my company, they gave me a start and I will grow as a driver!!!

Sorry for the ramble, glad to have this forum.....

Thanks for the post Shifty.Glad to hear you're not letting anything get you down.I'll be coming to join the team soon and it's positive posts like yours that keep morale up going into this.Have to admit though that a company of this magnitude makes drivers pay for damaged equipment kind of bothers me.Anyway, stay cool out there brother!!

Chuck thanks for the honest statement about your pay. Shows if you leave with respect and turn things in you get your deposit back.

What a zoo S&R is. Checked in at 0930. Finally get called at 1230 to go back to building one to be unloaded. Back in feel the dock plate drop feel them take a couple pallets off and then nothing. At 1400 they come out, I pull forward, they reseal the trailer and I drop it in the yard. Then I get my signed bills and bobtail out. It is quiting time for them.

Get over to JO's and it is quiet. Only 3 bobtails. Grab a shower and when I get back to the truck I have a load, ready to go, so I hooked up and head north. Be on the yard by noon friday.

Into Taylor Farms at 0230. Found a parking place. At 0630, guy took my BOL. I figured he'd come out and tell me to head down the street to Walmart to park until they called, but he wandered out, gave me my signed copy and had me drop my trailer where I was and pull the empty out of the dock.
Fastest unload there ever (for me).

    Headed to yard.
That big rollover is now prominately displayed on the flatbed right outside the driver's lounge, complete with sandwich board giving details.

Got all my clearances done. Student is nearly done. Now to get the truck done.
I expect to be out of here around noon or so tomorrow.
    Guess I'll miss you guys.

Got to the yard this afternoon...place is packed. I finally got a spot over by the drivers lounge. Looks like a full day of clearing for me tomorrow. A 4 hour class, winter workshop 2, and having to go talk to 4 different departments about popping a trailer door off. Hopefully I can time it to get out of here by Sat at noon.

Emu: Right now, I'm the only 660 by the drivers lounge. Come 7am, I don't know where I'll be.

Well since the Stevens recruiter cancelled until next week, and I felt like they were a pretty good company as large companies go. So based on all that I read here, and from their own literature I have applied.

Will wait to see if my run of bad luck is going to keep me from my desire or if I have to find another route to get my CDL and career stability.

Everyone here on this site has been a wealth of information, Thanks everyone.

Hit the yard right at noon. Had to wait for the repower at the J or I would have been here at 11. Short list but the physical will delay me

That's a tough call, and I hope they'll give you the chance. Stevens doesn't pay much so your finances will be real rough for a while. If the college will train you and defer payments, maybe better to do that and apply at several places once you're done and maybe get paid better to start out. Doubt you will get trained as well that route.

I'm parked half an hour from where I'll park the truck for time off, but I have no transportation until tonight. When I got in last night the dealer was closed and the only truckstop packed. I hit the nearest place, almost half way home from there and parked for the night. Limited chances for a ride as I have little family around the area any more, and they have jobs and schedules. I can get a ride easy tomorrow, so I'm stuck on the truck one more night. Ugh. Could be worse, I could be stuck at the truckstop in Fort Wayne. Bleh. At least here they have great food at three places, safe parking, and great showers. And televisions everywhere. And wifi faster than home cable.
