I am actually working on a Steiger tractor but nobody seems to be able to give me a good answer so I am hoping someone here will know. How much power can safely be pulled off the accessory drive on an 855 Cummins? I need to add another hydraulic pump to this tractor. There is one pump running off the accessory drive on the front of the motor. I would like to add another one on the back of the engine oil pump where the power steering pump is on trucks. The pump that is already there is about a 20gpm pump, and I would like to add another one the same size. Can the drive handle all that? Thanks.

I would consider other options first, do you have room to run it off the crankshaft.

I could belt drive a pump off the front of the crank if I had to, but I am not a huge fan of belt drive hydraulic pumps. It is an option though.

I was thinking more a shaft driven pump, if the rad is mounted up high enough. I am a farm boy too what do you want to run with it?

It could be done, but the radiator is pretty low so the shaft would be a pretty sharp angle. For now I have gotten a hydraulic pump off an early model Case IH red Steiger which is a lot bigger pump than what I have now. They drove them of the accessory drives on 855s, N14s and M11s so I think we can make it work. We are going to run a hydraulic drive vacuum corn planter with it.
