If you have a laptop I find this to be a great option. I use the antenna built into my semi with this usb tv tuner to my laptop get hd channels.

Might be an option for some who may have a compatible Dish network receiver at home. I do not have one and am not able to offer much advice. But, if there are a number of shows or movies you record with Dish Pass while you're away, I understand these can be copied over to a pocket Dish device when you get home, for viewing later through a TV's input.

you have to be a kid to see one of those.

us old folks prefer a BIG ARSE screen.

be kewl if they had some pockiet like antannae and a tuner to watch satellite on laptop like the tv tuners.

I understand you can output from the pocketdish to a television input.

    from their FAQ's

--When I connect my PocketDISH to my television to watch my DISH Network recordings, will the quality be similar to watching it from my DVR?
    Yes.--

Yo - 2012 called and they wanted to tell you that 4G is only in about 10% of the possible places that a driver may be sitting in when he or she stops at night. And THEN when they happen to be in one of those, there are most often data caps that they have to watch out for.

It is most certainly a helpful tool to have in the arsenal, but it is a far cry from any silver bullet. Having those rabbit ears to pick up local digital over the air signals is still used every day out there...

Current 4G hotspot image from the big 3 attached.

I received a catalog from Heartland America and they have this usb thing that you plug into a usb port for (I believe) $29.99. It requires a wifi connection but you can receive 2,000 internet TV and 9,000 radio stations on your computer.

Has anyone tried this type of item? Does it actually work as advertised?
I'm just asking because I really do not know if it is worth the money.

For an RV'r the tailgater is great. But how difficult is it going to be for a trucker to find a SW facing location with clear view, AND does not have trucks passing in front of the dish every minute or so? And the further North and east he is, the lower on the horizon you're going to need a clear view. A flatbedder with headache rack that can put the tailgater just above the roof line would be ideal if he can remember to bring it in when he moves. FYI - I have a tailgater at my 5th wheel travel trailer and I don't think a tailgater would stand up to the abuse of riding permanently in a "fixed location" on a tractor on bad roads.
