PGT trucking my adventure starts 01/03/11

Keep all the updates coming guys/gals. This is one of the companies that I am deciding on and they don't have a DAC report on them. I should probably give a recruiter a call to see what schools they take since it doesn't say on their website. I just hate talking to recruiters but it is a necessary evil. I was in the Army for 4 years so I know how recruiters can sometimes be. You know, get a warm body in the ranks. Anyway, keep all the great updates coming everyone!!!

 

Had anyone been to the indiana terminal it pulled any od loads talked to travis today got some good info just haven't sold the wife on being gone for three weeks again but I don't live in the best area for pgt living around kansas city hey rock you ever get east of the granite city drop yard

 

I live near Detroit Michigan, been speaking with Phil, recruiter at PGT...seems to be a str8 shooter. He seems interested because I am just out of school, want to haul flat bed and have a passport and enhanced license for entry in and out of Canada.

What is a quickpass through customs? Is that like NEXUS?

Does PGT run many loads in/out of the Detroit area? thinking realistic home time hear.

 

I just finished my 2nd week of training (I'm a student) and I've run to Canada and back twice already with my trainer. It's nice because now I know what you gotta do to get in and out of there without a problem.

There are pretty many loads in and out of the Michigan area I believe. We dropped a coil in Dearborn, picked up some bar in Monroe on Friday. I'm actually in a hotel in Flint b/c my trainer is at home for the weekend. Monday we head to Louisville, KY to drop the load of bar.

 

wow i really should proof read before posting i meant west of granite city drop yard like to Kansas city don't remember who i was talking to but the did seem to be a straight shooter especially when he told me about the problems that there new prostars are having i'm really interested in this place and would love to hear more even if it does mean i will no longer be home everyweek

 

Hey guys my wife came back to Monaca. So I got a computer again.. Done with my training now on Monday I get to start testing out. Then get into a truck and get back to Indiana meet my new boss... For you new guy to trucking you should pray that you get Jim their OTR trainer. By far the greatest teacher I've had in my life... He actually made the time in the truck fun and the time went too fast I wished I could have stayed in his truck for another week...So far what I learn from him if you don't want to work hard and leagal this is not the place for you... For me PGT will fit like a glove... I like to work hard.. I also like the leagal part of it to.. Being new to the trucking industry I don't know about all the ways to cheat so it won't hurt me.OTR training be ready for some 13hour days I also had a 13.75 hour day... good luck to all that deside to come to PGT!!!!!

 

Looks like I'll be back up there Monday. I had to leave Feb 2011 for some family issues but got hired back with no issues. Was going to go with Southern Pines but the dispatcher acted like he didn't care about my home time plus the 100/week insurance didn't work for me. So I'm coming back to PGT where they at least tried to get me home on weekends plus the medical insurance is cheaper. I'll prob rent a car and leave out sat morning.
