I never got more than 2300 paid miles in any given pay period, and I took every load I was given. From what I was told by other drivers, the average is about 2,200 paid miles per week for company, lower for lease drivers from what they've told me (about 2,000 avg).

These are for solo drivers. I never met a team at TA, so I don't personally know how they are doing.

TA uses RM-HHMG miles, zip code to zip code, shortest route between two points. Do not deviate from the routing they give you.

As far as I know, TA doesn't train. However, I do know they require 12 months OTR (unless something changed recently). I'm surprised they didn't refer you to Schneider, since the people who run the company virtually identical to Schneider came from Schneider.

Transport America dont make this mistake eagan, Minnesota

*UPDATE EX-employee responds: Unfortunate but true, it would seem

worked for this company four years, first two was ok, then the downhill slide started, cut pay from .45 mi down too .43 then .41 impossible fuel bonus, wont pay detention time wont pay layovers, all this is in their recruting info that they do pay. constant fight with dispatchers to get any home time, 1 or2 days after 3 weeks out, trucks turned down to 60 mph and expect drivers to drive 9-11 hrs straight to deliver airfreight, then expect you to sleep all day on break without any a/c because you have to keep idle time down, and tell you your job depends on it, they tell you to buy a fan and window screens at your expense to save them money. wont allow drivers to use toll roads route you on two lane roads and expect you to make the same times as you would on an interstate highway. if you ever think about driving for this bunch of morons forget it. company really went downhill when they hired their new president from schneider and he brought a bunch of orange idiots with him. started treating drivers like they were mongrel dogs. iv'e been drivivg for over 30 years and this is one of the worst i ever worked for, gave up trucking after this company dont work here under any circumstances.

Transport America Kelly Lucken DOES NOT PROMOTE FAMILY LIFE - Internet

If you are a spouse of a Transport America driver, your relationship is most likely in jeopary.

TA's fleet managers (at the very least) encourage the drivers to have affairs. They know the drivers are married and yet they go out of their way to hook them up across the country.

Ladies watch out for kelly - she likes to play the helpless little girl that needs taken care of . She knew my husband of 25+yrs ws just that, my husband. Yet I find out that TA and Kelly refer to my husband as hers.

So, the class of people (including my husband) sucks at TA.

YES, KELLY I AM ANGRY. THE ONLY SAVING GRACE IN THIS IS THAT HE DUMPED YOU BEFORE I FOUND OUT.

Sad part is she is already moving on to the next victum - I hope it's not your husband this time.

Don't take my word for it, just a few articles of those who is finding out the hard way!!!

Transport America safety dept. eagan Internet, Minnesota

*UPDATE EX-employee responds: Copy of FMCSA Letter

If you work for Transport America, you had better be in your sleeper if you have an accident. Even if you don't get a ticket and the other driver flees the scene, you'll be found "preventable".
I honestly think they tried to starve me out with no miles and when that didn't work, they trumped up this because of my accident. Yea, I guess I give them fuel for the fire by having an accident. But again, I was not at fault and the other driver did flee the scene. No ticket for me.
Shortly after I started at ta, they switched gears and would not hire new drivers that wanted home every weekend. I was one of the last ones they hired for weekend hometime. They also changed to a JIT company. The planners barely give you enough time to get the load delivered, not to mention p breaks. Also, no Co. insurance for the first year but they do offer private insurance which is very expensive and limited benefits.
They keep hiring new drivers and trying to force out anyone before they get a years seniority. This way they keep the revolving door open with excess drivers sitting not getting any miles. Lets face it, it don't cost them a dime if your sitting waiting for a load. Any expense they incur traing new drivers is just a write off. If I could start a Co. with employees that I didn't have to pay until I needed them, well, thats money in the bank.
It amazes me that these really smart CEO's really thinks the average worker is stupid.

Transport America PROFFESSIONAL DRIVERS : stay away from this company!!! Eagan Minnesota

This so-called poor excuse for a trucking company is one of the worst indeed.

If your 3rd issued truck makes it out of the terminal you are lucky!! Most of transport americas trucks are worth #### like the dispatchers and the operation director who is a little weasel! If you want no miles, shortages on your pay , a disgaceful dispacher( his last name was KLINE), bad equipment , then work for transport america!

Transport America trainners who break the rules Eagan, Minnesota

Orentation went ok. But after that it went completly down hill. Could not get with a trainner right away and when I got one he made sure that I knew I was not going to make it because Iam over 49 years old. No stops for anything. Not even to pick up food or take a crap. Had to go in a jar. would not run the ac becuase of fuel prices and would not stop for a shower and would not let me drive at night until it was illegal to drive. And would not help train at backing where I relly need help at. Did you know that you can drive from toronto canada to gordensville virginia in less than 11 hours. At least that is what the log will tell you. He would not let me drive the day at because he didnt know if I could handle it at night. He let me drive the 2nd day for 4 hours thru part of Chicago. And said I did ok. The 3rd day he drove because thge run that we were on did not allow for any mistakes and it took us into canada, And only he knew how to drive in canada. The 4th day and final day he had me drive illegally with him so we could get to virginia on time and at night, with him sitting in the passenger sit with the computor on and emailing 3 people and talking to one more person on his phone while he was teaching me the way of the road. I decided after that stuff I would not make it out here. And took a 48hr ride home on a greyhound. And now I cant get anyone at the company to return my calls or my emails, so now I dont have a job.
