Dry Bulk Plastic Hauling

Ummm nope..Not at Plastic Express or Apex Bulk Commodities..You overload, you shovel...And the "tests" for contamination on pellets are a joke. Have friends doing it now..even that so called "medical grade" stuff.

 

I may be hauling bulk tanks here soon for a local/semi-reigonal gig. I know they are hiring and the job is mine to do bulk and flats but I'm not quite sold on leaving this gas patch work just yet...

 

Do you have to have tanker endorsement on your licence to pull bulk trailer?

 

No, you don't need a tanker endorsement for dry bulk.

 

Really? Cool a& r contacted me for possible employment and didn't know if I needed the endorsement. I use to have it but let it fall off my licence of course its like a 10 question test so maybe ill get it again. Thanks for the response

 

i hauled liquid tanker for 4 years and sand for two. "ill take dry bulk over liquid anyday!" so says my lower back.

 

Shovel??? If you need to transfer some to the rear just find a nice hill, back down as fast as you can....slam on the brakes....weight now transferred.

 

Might not be fun but sure pays good.

 

Uh yeah, the whole back up and slam on the brakes will only move a couple hundred pounds if you are lucky. And the whole shovel thing??? You guys are nuts to go into that trailer for any reason. We had a guy go into the trailer after an ink pen. He couldn't get back out and spent 24 hours in the trailer in the heat of midsummer in Charlotte NC. The only reason it didn't kill him is because he left the blower running and had air (not product) circulating through the trailer.

If you know what you are doing you can move about 2000 lbs from the front to the back without even going on top and you can unplug the line without even shutting your blower down.

As far as a tanker endorsement A&R required it. Hazmat not a requirement but they paid just a little more for those who had it.

 

Don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for, but depending on the area you're in, you might try looking for someone who runs pneumatic bulk tanks..
I had about 5 months of driving reefers under my belt when I got hired on with a company hauling ammonium nitrate/cement/fly ash/soda ash. I just had to go take the tests at the DMV for doubles/triples and HazMat. They trained me for about a week if I remember correctly before cutting me loose on my own.
