It wasn't a flatbed but was first reported as one due to the near complete destruction of the trailer. The van ran a stop sign.

the Canadian driver tried to avoid the collision but was not able to and it cost him his life and worst of all on his 11th wedding anniversary. -

This really got to me. Yesterday my wife and I celebrated 11 yrs together and 5 yrs married. It really puts things into perspective.

congrats g.h.
it definitely makes each of us realize the shortness of life and how we can make a difference while we have the time.gravelhauler Thanks this. -
It is a shame. But notice how the original post makes it seem as though the Semi was at fault for the collision?
sevenmph Thanks this. -
I didn't read it that way.

Yeah I noticed that too. But thats the media for you, its a fine play on words.
Really? Lets review;
When it should have said;
This way it would have taken the blame game off the truck driver. -
If you go looking for media bias you will find it. Nothing in the original post places blame but it seems many on here think if the media doesn't specifically point the blame away from the truck that they are being unfair to the trucking industry.
I don't understand why you say the media should have reported the OPP as saying something they hadn't said though. Having listened to and read much of the media coverage I thought they were very responsible in not jumping to any conclusions until the OPP released the cause of the accident. Not sure where the flatbed report came from though.
