I just do the no load trailers if I wanted to haul freight I would have signed on with a freight outfit.
I am plated for 62000 lbs and I NEVER even get close to that !! They make us buy the 62000 minimum we used to be able to run 54000 but guys were getting caught over weight .
I miss the 54000 lb days cheaper tags and no road use tax mmm them were the days LOL

Marmon,
Don't mind if I pick your brain do you? lol, does the region matter when looking for no load trailers, by that I mean are there more no load trailers in different parts of the country than another?
Also, are there certain brokers that have more no load trailers than others?
Thanks,
Sam -
I try to stay in the midwest and south east the most There are more manufactures in these areas. I do run out to the northwest for my vaction runs once in awhile . I stopped running california years ago .
I don't deal with brokers EVER !! LOL I am leased on to RexDon and they are my only call .
You can ask as many questions as you would like ! I know everything there is to know according to my grand daughter
!!

LOL
Ok, I was asking about the brokers, because I am relatively new dispatcher and was asked to find runs for power only o/o's, so until I can develop some new contacts and direct shippers, load boards are what I go by... besides, if the owner/operator is making what they want/need/ask for, then does it really matter who makes what beyond that? At least..in the beginning lol.
I was looking at loads around Memphis, and saw loads into TX, but nothing come out TX etc,
When you say Midwest, I take it you mean, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana area?
I didn't really see anything in AR, OK, KS, etc. -
Yes il in oh mo ia ne all good ares for trailer manufactures .

I've been power only since Dec 03. I love it and doubt I could ever haul frieght ever again. You have to know what your doing and a little mechanical know how really helps with certain loads. You can really make a killing during natural disasters. I have kinda been out of the loop for the last 2 years. I got hooked up with a company that does large scale plumbing and HVAC(think apts and Gov housing, military bases). I haul loaded trls to the sites and mts(if they have one) out. All miles are paid. I have 180 mi a week unpaid from my house to thier place and back. I still have to haul regular P/O loads for back haul when I go to SC as it's too far to BT back to AR.
You will get some unusual loads at times and they will pay the most. You will need your 5th wheel slide extended to back of the frame, chains, binders, straps, ratchets, winches, electric brakes, pintle hook, and light bar with power cord.
I have hauled a trl that was police evidence. the driver p/u a lot lizard in Bordentown and when he was done he locked her in his moving van. She ended up setting the trl on fire by lighting the blankets on fire. I used to haul aircraft towrs(BIG $$$) but I guess one of the larger outfits underbid it like every thing else. I never take load outs, too much of a pain in the rear, not enough money.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
Clayton,
Did you ever deal with brokers, or did you have a dedicated run from the get go?
Trying to get to know who has what, but I am thinking of staying away from the load outs, but not sure if that's possible all the time... -
Marmonman, did you ever live in Big Cabin? We had a driver who lost 2 Marmons in a row to electrical fires that lived in Big Cabin. I heard he moved to the midwest.

My company uses a broker to do all of that, but he deals directly with me and they only have to pay me. We get along very good. If the rate isn't right I'll call him and tell him it needs fixed. I've made him a truck load of cash and vise versa. The work i do for him gets really nasty during the spring and winter due to mud. I've been towed in and out of sites by a dozer or track hoe more times than I care to remember.
I will tell you that most brokered P/O is dirt cheap, and my company has been screwed more than a few times even with credit checks. Even getting the loads directly from the manufactures is a risk. There are 2 manufactures that still owes us almost $200K. You really need a core group of customers and use brokers little as possible, just like any other type of trucking. -
just keeping track
