A California man suspected of shooting a 61-year-old woman over the weekend apparently took his own life by stepping in front of a moving truck Monday morning.

The man, John Quincy Ellis, 46, was pulled over by Stockton, CA police while heading southbound on Interstate 5 as Stockton and Santa Rosa police investigated a homicide that occurred Sunday afternoon. During Monday’s traffic stop, Ellis reportedly immediately exited the vehicle and asked officers to kill him, according to the Record Staff newspaper.

Ellis reportedly ran through the southbound lanes and into the far northbound lane before stopping, “allowing a big rig to strike him,” a police spokesman told the Record Staff. The truck driver did not have time to stop.

Ellis, of Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Santa Rosa Police issued a statement Monday that detailed a shooting from Sunday afternoon. Carole Marie Brooks, 61, was shot at 1:48 p.m. in Santa Rosa. Brooks was taken to a hospital and later died from her wounds.

Counseling for PTSD and going forward knowing there was absolutely nothing he could do.

Not only did this selfish pos kill an elderly woman, he then decides to destroy a completely innocent person's life. May his soul suffer in hell.

Having been in an accident where the other person died, I can honestly say the only thing that helps is time. I was found 100% not at fault but still blamed myself for at least a year after the wreck. In time I begin to realize that there was nothing I could've done to prevent it.

Having been in a fatal accident also, it bothered me that a little boy was gonna grow up without his father and his mother was almost killed, but you tell yourself that you did everything right and there was no way you could of prevented it, you move on.

I would of gotten in a truck the next day and went back on my route except for the fact I was injured and couldn't work.

Under those circumstances I'd only be upset if my truck was damaged!

Who cares about the POS that killed himself?

It would be a lot harder, (I think,) to deal with causing a fatal, than it would be to just be a part of it. As far as the bozo committing suicide, hell look how much money he saved the great state of kaliphornia. They should be able to feed and house a couple more ######## for years with the money he saved them.

Pegasus, LSAgentOZR and blackw900 Thank this.

That's how the driver needs to deal with it. Keep things in the correct perspective. No reason this clown should destroy the driver's life too!! He was nothing more than an animal that gets hit crossing the road.

    Pegasus and Hanadarko Thank this.

The one thing I still carry with me (and probably always will) is the fact that the girl was 17 yrs old. Having 3 daughters myself (9, 12, and 16) that really hit home. Ive asked myself many times "what if that happened to one of my daughters?" I wanted to reach out to the family but my wife, being a legal assistant said it wasn't a good idea for lawsuit purposes.
