MAVERICK! Great company. My husband has worked for them for almost two years. Fair and honest. An A+ company.

I worked for maverick and I currently work for pgt. Maverick did me wrong on a d.o.t recordable accident in which they cost me a cdl job for 2 years. All companies will stick it to you somehow someway. Just watch yourself. Take lots of pictures and etc. if you are in an accident. I just now got my DAC report cleared with pgt's help. Anyway, companies like TMC, BTC, Western Express, Jaro, PGT, Maverick all pay different. I can drive 1500 miles average a week and still bring home $800 pay checks. But I dont get paid to tarp and no pay for dead head miles, and no layover pay at shippers and recievers. So, that being said, I do have real good weeks where the loads I get I get paid bank! And other times it pays like crap. But average it out and I get paid more than most do. I just picked up a pipe load from lone star texas headed to waverly new york. It pays me $736, so on monday morning I got a real good start on a awesome paycheck. But I could go drive 800 miles for $150. Thats just how it works sometimes. I would look around for freight oppurtunities where you live. It is a dead time for freight right now until the end of March so were all gonna get some crappy runs to crappy places paying...crap. PGT is a good company, always willing to help you out...way more laid back and calm than maverick. The only downfall is they have corn binder coffin sleeper international trucks. They are renewing the fleet right now and goung with all new Prostars. From what I can tell there trucks are not turned down at all. 425 Cummins ISX with 10 speeds. Maverick trucks do good to pull up a hill empty with a big 515 horse detroit. Its like aomeone else said, do your research and pick a comoany that suits your needs. Pgt and a few others still run paper logs. Maverick has mostly E-logs now days. I would go for more pay and low health insurance costs. Its sure not getting any easier on us thats for sure.
WhereverIMayRoam Thanks this. -
So what did Maverick do to stick it to you? If I remember correctly, Maverick lost a $130k law suit in 2010 for an inaccurate DAC report. I'd be willing to bet they don't want to repeat that on a regular basis, but, stuff does happen. I'm just curious what actually happened to you.

Well Sparkn, I guess your a driver for Maverick. I will tell you the truth. If your familiar with Fort Smith...i got a load from there going to CAT in Danville KY. Shiny bar. I stopped at little rock for a 10 hour break, woke up and headed to the house. As I was headed out of the scale house on I-24 I heard drivers saying eatch out for a white grand am driving all crazy. Well guess what...it was a 16 year old boy, just out screwing around with 3 teenage girls with him also in the car. Well I guess it was past his curfew and he was whipping around all of us drivers. Oh wait heres eddyville exit! I'll just cut this big truck off...FAIL!...Wait I can't make it....i'll just slam on my brakes in the fast lane and cut back in behind him...C R A SH!!!!! Oh no!!!!!! Eerrrrrrrr zzzzzzjshsvwjf io oh ch jc ####. The boy hit the drivers side tire and left rear part of my trailer ripping the whole dam front end off and barely...BARELY gettimg stopped before west bound mowed over his ###....8 inches from the pavement to be exact. The car was totaled. The dumass hit me so hard it broke the strut and whole wheel assembly out of the right side of the car. So I go talk to him and take pictures. I aske him if he was suicidal or maybe retarded to even try that around a big truck. Well 3, count em...3 drivers stopped, 1 behind me, and 2 traveling west bound. So with my 3 witnesses, the ####### useless eaton vorad $10,000 hunk of plastic #### on the side of my truck I still got a lane change/side swipe accident on my DAC ....thank you Maverick, I really appreciate working for you for another 6 months just to find out you ###### my ### over royally when I quit. So take that with a grain of salt. I guess I need to sue them for $130,000 since they allready lost one lawsuit. Maybe more! I still have contact with the 3 drivers that stopped that day. I should sue for mental anguish and punitive damages. They ###### me good, new driver, 1 year experience, 1 d.o.t. Recordable accident = no job for 2 years, so actually the 1 year I worked there is kinda to old for reference since no one will hire a driver with an accident like you do dummy, see ya in 3 to 5 years when most companies allow that crap. See, do you think I got the shaft or I got Maverick a little cheaper insurance costs. And by the way, I ran with 3 drivers from Laredo, TX to south of Pittsburg, we all fueled at the same Flying J at Texarkana. One of em got kerosene in their tanks and had to stop to check it out. He didnt know what was wrong, his truck wasn't running right. 5 months later, which is Janurary 2009, he gets a phone call saying he is done, bring the truck to little rock. So why did they let him keep working. Ask several drivers. 2009 is when glorious Maverick #### canned around 386 drivers. My trainer even called me to tell me to watch my ###, they canned 3 of his previous students before me....not following route solutions, fueling wrong, log violations, being late when sent a load at a port and expected to be 800 miles away in 3 hours kinda bull ####. Ever notice bad tires (recaps) on a maverick truck? NO! Thats why, the economy went to #### so they thinned out the heard. Ask around sparkn, it happened. So if your a driver, trainer, or steve williams himself, maverick is not the best dam company out there. I know from experience, and so do other people whem they got fired and lost there house and had to live in a box for the #### they put on there DAC report. So heres a big YOUR NUMBER ONE! With a middle finger in the air to the flatbed company from hell. Steve williams DID come in and clean house, telling his so called great people/fleet managers that there not gonna ruin his company. Except for Harrold, he is still there, I was sitting eating with a Mav IC, A trainer and his student when another previous student called him and asked why his fleet manager was telling him (HARROLD) to go off duty while his truck is being repaired (an air line leak and a busted air bad on trailer). His trainer said...tell harrold to go f himself and log it on duty, wake up, and then start your day, if he says any more call safety because im reporting this right now myself. So yes maverick still has harrold the bald headed money maker still there. The only reason he is....revenue. So what if I push a driver. Thats how it is, sorry to tell the truth but I am no way shape or form a liar, good people lost there job with maverick in 2009. And who knows how there are, but don't sit there and tell me there the best, there awesome, cause #### still goes on that shouldnt. PGT never pushes you, they dont have elogs but they watch you. Running over your 14? You will get a phone call, oversleep a few hours, wake up driver or whats wrong! Truck broke down, let me know when you can deliver or what you want to do, they work with you, you pay the bills, you call the shots. One word, respect.

If you had witnesses, photos, and a police report, how did you still get dinged on your DAC? Did you get a ticket for anything?
Just trying to figure out how the system works or does not work in this case. -
Sorry that happened to you! Trucking is not the only industry that let good people go in 2009.
All I can say is that I have never been pushed, never been asked to do anything illegal. Whenever I have told them I could not do something or could not make a time, there has never been any pushback at all.
I am glad you are getting things cleared up at pgt and are doing well! -
I didn't get a ticket or nothing. I didn't even bother looking at the police report until I found out what was on my DAC report. It states...no evidence was proven to decide cause in both parties. Driver of vehicle b..(the 16 year old boy) stated that he 18 wheelers make him nervous. It did not jowever state 3 fellow TRUCK DRIVERS made a statement saying they seen the boy hit me! So idk, I just know it wasn't right.

Good info for anyone needing to dispute their DAC. Maybe too late for you, but not too late for the next guy.
