the Anniversary one with the 4 color LCD Display that's 99 bucks in all the truck stops after a mail in rebate? I'm looking at picking it up while i'm across the border. Is it a good unit for the money?

I like the cobra 25 nightwatch for similar money, same amount of power as far as transmission and not all the extra BS that those new LCD crappy radios have.
-
I would say it's worth it. A buddy of mine has this radio and it has a few features the older Cobras don't have. Aside from the color changing display, it does have a scan feature, plus a frequency read out, in addition to a channel read out. Sure the frequency read out might not be worth much but the scan feature I think is a plus when you want to hunt the band for activity.
Besides I like chrome knobs and a brushed silver face, but it's about time Cobra starts building something other than the same thing that's been avaliable since the 1970's. -
Only if it has a dimmer switch, trust me your going to want it.
<----- while your driving at night.

I am running that radio. There is a dimmer switch that you can set night and daytime brightness from the menu.
It is a decent radio. Pretty much the same cobra 29 with a screen facelift.

it doesn't have a dimmer knob but it does have 2 adjustable dim settings, for day and night.
I wish it had the night watch face so you can see the knobs at night. otherwise it's a fancy Cobra 29bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info

I reread my post and should of clarified a bit more. You have a switch on the face for bright or dim setting. You can go into the menu and adjust the brightness of both of those settings as you see fit.
Yes It would of been nice if they illuminated the knobs like the night watch. I have that one in another truck. But after you get used to where everything is it is no different.

Right...You can go into the menu and adjust the night and day settings on the display to where ever you need it...
I have one in my Suburban and love it...Only problem I have seen with the LCD display is in cold weather when it's down below freezing it takes a while for the display to fully light up...It sorta looks faded at first, but once the cab gets warm then the LCD looks normal. -
Keep it from freezing... LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY...
