At Heartland it works like this:
Planer: Finds a load near me*or a nice deadhead of 200 miles.*
Sees it will work with my hours ,and sends it to my FM.
FM: sends it to me over the PeopleNet elog..I laff and think NO...I need to go West or South.....but I really confirm the load and send it back to the FM.
FM: Sends the big Plan to me..I look it over, get the map out and plan my route, send for directions to the shipper/cons,look at the map to see were the plan says I can fuel.....figure out were to stop and make sure the truck has all its wheels and is not on fire, Then ..off I go. -
Thx Kapt,

Thanks for the response critters
Yeah lots of people who hate their job responded to a few of my posts - such as it is I don't believe a trucking career/job is as bad as they say.
I figure most of negative posts are from those who either didn't do their research, settled for any company that offered them a job or are just bitter due to their station.
For me, I'm doing as much research as possible before I cough up $5k for a license and job I'm going to hate.
I've gotten a few great pm's though from some really helpful people as well as got a few calls set up for next week to speak with recruiters from some companies I'm interest in.
I have lots of questions for them as well as the school recruiter who's about to get an ear full from me on Monday LOL. -
There is not a job that is bad as they say it is. It is all on how you make it you need to take the good with the bad and just roll with it, but if you are un-happy might as well find something you like. I mean I was in the Marine Corps for 4 years and there were plenty of people that hated every aspect of it but yet I enjoyed it because you cannot let it get you down. The trucking industry there are many good state side, local, and overseas jobs to choose from. I mean me and my wife are discussing weather or not if I should go to the Sand Box for a tour of driving for a military contractor it is 100k+ a tour tax free... But there are its own risks that come with that as well.
