Hey Smurf, BTC is one of the companies on my short list so needless to say I am trying to get as much info about them as possible. I've looked at their website but it is pretty vague on almost every detail compared to other companies websites. I will probably call the company to get their up to date answers but I tend to believe the drivers more as they are the ones on the front lines so to speak. Sorry in advance for all the questions
and I might ask more as they come to me, so here goes.

    1. How do they treat you as a driver? ie: respect, forced dispatch, etc.
    2. How is the equipment? ie: trucks, trailers, tie-downs, etc.
    3. Do they let you do anything to the trucks? ie: inverters, fridges, etc.
    4. How are they on their benefits? ie: vacation, medical cost for family, etc.
    5. What about Canada and Hazmat?
    6. How was orientation and training if you were a new driver, since I am coming into
all this as a brand new driver.
    7. Since I am new and will be going to school to get my CDL, does BTC only accept
    certain schools?

Thanks again for any answers that you have. If anybody else has any other questions or answers please feel free to fire away, it can only help.

Just for clarification, there is no such thing as "forced dispatch" when you are a company driver. You are their employee driving their truck. You go where they tell you to. If you don't want that, then buy your own truck and go where you want to.

I work for BTC also, so I will try and answer your questions.

    1. How do they treat you as a driver?
I have always been treated with respect.

    2. How is the equipment?
The new Mack's are nice. The Freighliners aren't bad either but they
will all be gone soon. Tarps, chains, straps that I got were all in good condition. You have to tell them if you're not cool with the gear.

    3. Do they let you do anything to the trucks?
The shop will install power inverters for you. I have a fridge, microwave,
    TV, etc.

    4. How are they on their benefits? 1 week paid vacation after 1 year along with 401k. Fairly priced insurance of all types thru Blue Cross & Blue Shield of TN.

    5. What about Canada and Hazmat?
Neither one is required with BTC.

    6. How was orientation and training if you were a new driver, since I am coming into all this as a brand new driver.
I came to BTC as a brand new driver too. Orientation was pretty cool. Basic stuff & paperwork. My experience with my trainer was great. I learned everything I possibly could, drove nearly all of the time, etc. My trainer and I still talk every couple of days and hes always willing to answer any questions I may have.

    7. Since I am new and will be going to school to get my CDL, does BTC only accept certain schools?
I don't think they are too strict on your CDL School. I went to a small one here in my town and they accepted it fine.

As far as hometime, I have never stayed out over the weekend. I will be this weekend, but because I want to stay out and make some extra cash. The pay is good, I average a fair amount.

Any other questions you have fire away and I'll do my best to help you out.

I just got my cdl license and have considered BTC also. Looks like a really good and stable company. Also like the Mack trucks. Do they have a 10 speed manual trans and Mack or Volvo motors in them? Thanks

The trucks are clean when you get them its up to the driver on how you treat them. If your considering Btc I'd say you have an 80% chance on getting a brand new Mack by the time you get there. They are 10 spd trans. Its a good company to work for. Can't beat there student pay there's no where out there you will make what you make at Btc out of school.
