I would be very interested in your trucking cook book. When I eventually get my truck, I plan on the crockpot doing the cooking while I drive.

A little off topic, what do you tell your students to bring with them? I'm talking about a real list, not a might as well brng it list. Did you already put this out somewhere? Thanks David! :biggrin_25514:

I am in a T660 so space is very limited.........

    1. Clothes for about 7 to 10 days (we'll do laundry just about each week where/when we can)
    2. It's cold - so coat and good gloves!
    3. Flashlight
    4. Small food items i.e lunch meats, microwaveable items, things like that. I usually will cook many nights and will share grocery costs for things we decide to make. I have a reg fridge with freezer - it's small but the student is welcome to store things in there also.
    5. Something to keep their paper logs in
    6. Bedding - (blanket, sheets, pillows)
    7. Enough money for the 5 weeks out or ability to get money via an atm.
    8. Boots for bad weather or bad parking lot conditions
    9. Notebook - for note taking etc.

    Dont bring -
    1. Map book - I have one and dont need two in the truck.
    2. Your GPS - I have one and dont want two going off all day!
    3. Anything that you cant fit on your bunk with you while you are sleeping!

It's tight quarters and living on the top bunk for 5 to 8 weeks is trying at times. Pack well and in small bags if possible!

Hope this helps but also understand each trainer is different.

That's some good info there..... I actually was thinking about the map thing tonight. I'm guessing that the same goes for a tool kit as well? And I'm also 'reading into this' that basically you need to bring what you need to get by...... all the other stuff 'for the truck' is in the truck. Is that a fair assumption?

    Thanks for the help, David....

Sounds like if you get Baritone as a trainer there is a breakfast buffet every morning and a chocolate mint on your pillow every evening :biggrin_25514:

    Hi Baritone,

I am staring up on The March 19th class in Ohio, I was wondering when we get to the OTR training if the 5-8 weeks of training is done in a row or is there some type of break in between. Anyway I am looking forward to march. Thanks to you and everyone else for your posts, very helpful and made my decision much easier.

Not trying to answer for Baritone, but it depends on the trainer. Some go home every 2-3 weeks or so, some stay out the entire time. With the year end holidays behind us, holidays shouldn't be a problem. Hope this helps.

Dip, just your personal things and money should be all you need for the road as per Dave's list. Space is very limited in the truck. All the stuff "for the truck"...nothing wrong with getting it now so you have it when you're finished with training. Just leave it at home.
