When I finish a run, I always update my PTA so they know how many hours I have left. It's a good habit to get into. -
Yea...makes sense....I just hadn't really worried about it...until last night..and only had 2plus hours left. I took your advice and did some editing on my log,,,where I had been very lax with my clock. I learn something new every day.
Wedge Thanks this. -
Okay...here's one for you... you know how couples try and try to get pregnant? then...they adopt... and... the pressure is off...and mom get's pregnant. Yea... I got a job offer today...back in my original field of broadcasting. It's a field that I am good at... I'm comfortable with...but I am having a really hard time weighing the issues... this truck driving thing has been a challenge for me....I've been flustered... panicked... embarrassed... but... now... just 5 months since I got into a freighliner for the fist time... I am reluctant to give it up. I feel like I have endured the trials...and have been winning. Not that I love driving hundreds of miles every day... not that I wouldn't rather be home with my wife and family at night...in this case... it is a Christian radio station. I've never worked at one of those before... but I am Christian...and I feel like we (our society) is undergoing some really tough challenges...and maybe I can say something on the air that will really help someone... I kind of wish this opportunity had waited until...like October. I'd like to drive OTR...like to see something besides Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. any thoughts?

If you feel that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity then take it. Trucking will always be there

Deep down you have already answered the question do what your heart says
-
Personally,
I think it would be lame if you quit. After all that you have accomplished, you are just now getting comfortable and able to give back to your employer, you wanna quit? What about all the time, money, and patience your employer put into you? If it was me, I would stay with them a good year or two even...just to pay my dues. I think it's disrespectful to just up and quit like that unless you are being mistreated, which, by the sounds of things, you are not. Schneider has been more than fair.
Just saying...I think it's a bad idea.
Bottom line....
I wish you the best in whatever you decide.Markus Thanks this. -
And another great read from first post to last....
I am so impressed with the dedication and perseverance by so many good folks on this forum. So much adversity - so many challenges - and you pick yourself up and keep moving forward. What an inspiration.
Congratulations on all you have accomplished Markus.
Go with your instincts on the radio vs/ trucking decision. No one can say you didn't give it your all no matter what you decide.
Best of luck,
Perpetual -
Mark
no one but you knows the answer to the question about the job offer. It certainly could probably have NOT come at a 'worse' time for you when you are starting to get some comfort in your driving.
I learned a new saying recently when Dave and I kept saying to each other that things in our lives in the last 2 years have had a funny way of working out -how we met, how he happen to be driving for a company out of Ohio that had 3 drivers in Rochester, how he ended up in NY from Ohio etc.
You being Christian hopefully apprechiate this: "it's not odd, it's God.''
Best wishes in what ever decision you make!! -
If you do go back to radiobe sure to tell us the station so when we are in your neck of the woods we can tune in.
Markus Thanks this.
