I can't blame ya, but their trailer rent will shock ya! 300 a week when I looked into it a few years ago.

I have an 18" king pin and the rear axle is set to be just barely CA legal. If you're hauling heavy, yes, it is useless. I usually don't haul heavy, though. It's pretty much my ltl spot. Works pretty well, you just have to load heavy freight a bit farther forward than normally.
The big benefits to me are that it lets me gross out in CA if I need to. Because of my sleeper and where my 5th wheel is I have a hard time getting enough weight on the steers. In CA, where you would normally have to close the axles, I don't have to so I can still put 40k back there.
The other big benefit is that my extra long truck now maneuvers like I'm pulling a 40' trailer. Gotta watch the overhang, tho. -
Quick Draw. He's a nice guy.

It's now $374/wk when you include tax (rent is subject to sales tax). That does include all maintenance including tires, and all flatbedding equipment.
I can't say for sure what their logic is, but it seems that rentals are available only to get noobs started (but they'll let you keep renting at $374/wk as long as you want). I think they really want to encourage buying your own equipment.
I guess I should also say that we're at 87 - 90%. We do pay for our own trailer if we aren't renting and we also pay our own cargo insurance, but with such a high percentage it all works out pretty well.Last edited: Feb 15, 2012
