I don't think any Walmart drivers will be giving up their $80,000 a year driving jobs because they can't talk on the phone while driving. If Walmart wants to institute this POLICY, as an employer, they have every right to. Enforcement of the policy will be trickier, legally anyway. This policy has nothing to do with the handheld phone ban recently enacted, this is a Walmart policy. I was speaking to a WM driver the other day on the Ohio turnpike and he expressed his displeasure with it, but shrugged his shoulders. Where's he going to go and work 4 on 4 off and make that kind of money? Nowhere.

The day they ban cell phone use entirely, they need to ban passengers. I find it more distracting with my wife sitting second seat than to be on the phone with anyone.

Bad news folks it is a truck not a phone booth. More importantly it is their truck and not a phone booth!

Guess your really gonna pitch a fit when they disable all of them huh.

I miss the days when you would ride all day or night. Sit down for something to eat, and have the phone right there at the table to talk to the wife and kids. Get back out on the road and look forward to the same thing the next day. The wife loved it and the kids always looked forward to daddy calling every night before bedtime. I guess technology has really made life easier for us.

Think that's bad? Some yahoo has software that's tied to GPS and your ECM. The co. can set the speed limit on your truck for any piece of road he wants. The inventor touts this as a great sales tool where a carrier can guarentee that his trucks won't speed on the shippers property.
