Well, Day Two done :biggrin_2558:Its pretty much , just as everyones posted on here about their first week of training pretty standard. We have Chris as an instructor he's pretty cool .Meet quite a few drivers on their 34. We're starting the 500 tomorrow only four of us in the class so we should get some good drive time. Only two weeks & three days before the real fun starts.:yes2557: Just hope I get a good trainer already have one and a possible :biggrin_2559:

    Rant loading........

I'm going to say it again. PLEASE! PLEASE! Drop your trailers with out at least an inch of clearance under the landing gear. I had a drop and hook at Dial in ATL and it was dropped high, again!! To top it off, the legs were old and slightly bent which made them jam. I could not crank the legs up and was about the break the handle. Finally had a yard jockey lift it up so I could crank it up a few times otherwise I would have been stuck!!

If you don't know how high you can leave the legs, try this little exercise sometime... Dump your air bags and crank the landing gear down till they touch. Then re-inflate your air bags and look at how much clearance is under the legs. That is how high you can leave them!! It is much better to have to dump your air bags to get under a trailer than it is to try and crank the trailer down!!

I am going to have to start carrying a couple of 2x4s on the back of the truck. You can use the air suspension to lift a trailer so you can crank stubborn landing gear if you have something to put between the 5th wheel and the trailer.

OK, rant complete!! Have a nice day!

Well I was trying to get back to Cartersville to drop this paper load. Not gonna happen. I was tight on time, low on fuel and the fuel lines were slow as hell. Then my phone starts beeping telling me there is upward of a 75 minute delay going thru ATL. Looks like I'm parking south of ATL. Last two days have been crap miles due to delays and running out of my 14 way before my 11. Family Dollar and Georgia Pacific ate up my whole day.

    L.B - great post!

All too often this happens and you are stuck trying to get the landing gear raised. Nothing worse then when it's cold as crap and/or raining and you have to fight with raising the landing gear.

As Bear said - it really depends on the Trainer. My theory is this.........Kiss your Wife/GF/Kids/Momma before you go out and expect not to see them for 5 to 8 weeks. If you get through (home) then you might get a short visit but that's about it. The faster you get this done the better for both.

However, I do have 3 days set for March so I can enjoy the Louisville Truck Show. Other than that - I will stay out until my Student get's his truck.
