Do it, lease!!!

I agree partially. If you're already in this business and you sign one of those contracts you should know those numbers are skewed. However, when certain l/p companies throw unrealistic numbers at newbies, knowing the fail rate, I feel its unethical.
A step farther.....what about schools run by people in this business, and staffed by cdl holders who allow companies to come in and sell these leases to newbies. All because of the kick backs.
It's all greed. -
I think midnight blue is just butthurt that he couldn't make a business work.
THEY SEND YOU TO A 4 DAY SCHOOL THAT TEACHES YOU EVERYTHING ABOUT THE LEASE....... DUH!!! -
There is no way in 4 days that you can learn everything you need to know to make a lease work. This is why it is an extremely good idea that you know how Prime operates, AND how the flow of trucking operates before you enter a lease. And then you need good business sense to go on top of that.
Here's a couple of things I will say: (1) Deer guard should not be considered optional equipment. $800 for the deer guard vs who knows how many thousands in lost revenue and repairs if you hit a deer.
(2) Use fuel efficiently. Getting to the 90 in record time is great and all, but dumping your profits into your fuel tanks is not intelligent. -
DTB, they go over the lease from front to back in the classes, as well as your responsibilities to Prime as an independent operator. The rest that you said is definitely required, but that is on you. I was just making the point that Prime is not trying to trick anyone with their lease, as it is an up front deal with 4 days of classtime explaining the details of the lease, before you sign. And lets not forget that it is a walk away lease, just drop the truck off at a terminal. You can even go back to company if you want.
McBjork Thanks this. -
I'm not saying they don't. I AM saying it takes MUCH more than 4 days to learn the ins and outs of running a truck. We'd rather learn how on Prime's dime.

So let me see if I have the story straight Midnight Blue.
Prime is running an O/O scam and 99.9% of Prime lease drivers are in the red.
Are these the facts?
If not, lets have just the facts. Save your opinions for someone who cares. You know what they say about opinions.
And you are posting this on an internet message board for what reason? -
I have a sneaking suspicion that these 'balances from old leases' are a result of the driver's inability to plan, budget and control their spending. Every one of them probably took too many advances over too long a period of time and couldn't admit that they're not able to run a business until they've logged two months of negative settlements. Now I know you're going to try to blame their failure on things like weather, mechanical problems, plain bad luck, etc. But if you (and they) take an honest look at each of their situations, you will likely find that their failure is based 100% on the poor decisions that they made. Granted, Prime could be much more selective about who they allow into the lease program - but if they were, then MOST of the lease drivers would be successful, and then you'd have a line of people wanting to sue Prime for discrimination. I love the American mentality, I really do.
