lmao!!! How funny paintball!! I will look out for you! I am in 74425 (white Freightliner). The miles go up and down here (like everywhere, I suppose), but good weeks are Real good! I made a bit over 60k last year as a solo, so I would expect that you will do well. Freight is getting better. January is always a slow month. Hang in there! The good does outweigh the bad, as long as you can stay patient!Just came out of Sarnia, Ontario on a six stop load and the qualcomm just beeped-so, I am off again! Have a great one and keep the rubber on the ground!

That's great tyount! Let us know when you'll be there and we'll look for you! I have been working my max hours lately and have a run from Chicago to Long Island, NY on right now! I will be running my 70 close to out of hours at delivery and hope I can hop across a few bridges in NY before I need to stop! (We run everywhere but the 5 burroughs, so if you're skeered-don't come to NCT!)
We do have EZ pass though, so we don't pay the tolls!

Hi housecat, seems like a very good job over there at NCT. How is your home time? or does that depend on where ya live? It seems like everything goes out from Westhampton and you deliver then make your way back there, true? Alos if you dont mind, how much is the family medical weekly? Thanks and if I think of anything else, i'll ask. Have a Good Day

Hometime depends on where you live of course. Since your location is apparently the north pole I wouldn't hold my breath on getting by there often. I haven't heard anyone complain about home time either. When you come into the yard in westampton you sign in with your name, truck #, hours, when your available for dispatch, and comments. In the comments column you put things like: truck needs to go to shop, need my 34 reset, or geographical preference, florida, west coast, texas, for 22 hometime. Normally there's piles of freight bills there and they can get you what you want. Health benefits don't kick in for 90 days. They'll se. nd you the information a few weeks before your 90 is up. I've only been here about 5 weeks so I don't know the cost yet. However, if I remember correctly, earlier in this thread I seem to recall something being said about the monthly family cost about $200. Don't hold me to that though. As stated before, I'm part of a 3 man team and I'm on my 10 days off right now. Around saturday I'll get back on the truck for my 20 days outthen home again for another 10 off. Ten days off is a nice amount of time at home. Time to unwind and relax in the beginning, get things donne in the middle, and by the end of it you're ready to go back out again. I know jan / feb are slow freight months so I've been patient. So far so good though. Overall I have to say I'm pleased with my decision to come to NCT. To me, dispatch, fleet, freight...they're not much different than other companies. The pay here is better than most others and that's the main reason I went back on the road. Stay safe out there.

Hey ras! Paintball is right. You choose when you want to go home and go out from the terminal then turn around and go back that way with a backhaul. I am an OTR driver/solo, so I usually take my time at home and when I get in the truck (after my hometime) I send a message to the company on the qualcomm telling them when I want to come back home and for how long. I haven't missed a planned time at home since I've been here, but I have heard of the OTR teams having trouble with it when they live way out west somewhere. (I live in Michigan) Also, they will never guarantee a holiday hometime, but they do everything possible to get you there for holidays. We do get paid holidays (maybe after 90 days like paintball said) as well.
On the medical... don't quote me, but I think they offer several plans. I took the best they had to offer when I signed up. So, I pulled out my book from two years ago to check for you. They have a few different plans...One high deductible and one low-I have the lowest deductible plan for my family (which costs the most of course) and pay around $100.00 a week for it. Doctor's visits are $25 and $50 for specialists co pays. It would probably be half of that for the higher deductible and co-pays. My husband and I are getting older and I wanted to be sure we had the best possible medical that we could get, so I went with that one when I hired in. We also have the lowest co-pays for medicine with this plan. (Like $15.00 for generic and $30.00 for name brand) We also have a dental and vision plan and that medical savings plan (which I am going to add on in June for open enrollment to have my teeth worked on- need some new caps!) We have a 22 year old son who will also be on my plan until he is 25 or gets better benefits from his employer.
Hope it helps!

Headed to westampont for orentation I've read the whole board. And just to add I've done ltl before. But not otr one thing that I asked the recruiter. Was the fact that they need drivers where did it come from. Nct never advertized in the past. And you had to have years otr to work there. But I'm going into this with a possitive mind set. I hate that it didn't work out for some. And I look foward to meeting others on this post. So stay possitive and keep trucking. The industry isn't the same and there isn't a perfic company out here. Will keep ppl updated on my employment as well

haz-matguru...Love the handle! I will be staying around the house this week, so I don't expect to be back at the terminal until around the first of March. Let us know your truck number and we'll look for you!
I think their theory of lowering the driver pay and benefits and expecting t/l drivers to be able to adjust to our kind of work was a factor in the turnover. They also waited too long to replace equipment (in my opinion) and there are some real duds of equipment still on the road. I got lucky in that category! I have a plain old Columbia with a 10 speed that can be tempermental, but I know every problem to expect from her!
As far as pay...I believe that it has to go up! (it's just a matter of waiting it out and it is still good for today's industry standards) It should be interesting to see the changes with the new CEO from Roadway taking over our company.
I really enjoy checking in when I can, to see how everyone's doing here. -
Thanks housecat and paintball for the replys. So if i have this right, everything outbound is pretty much from NJ? With your outbound load, you get to pick where you wanna run and they send you that way if possible. Then you unload however many stops and make pick ups going back to NJ. Doesn't seem like a bad deal. So, the main question that seems to escape me, in your opinion, is weekly hometime possible? That seems to be where I get the most oh, ah, um's from LOL. I know its OTR trucking, but if you request weekly homtime, is it mostly approved or not. With a mix of LTL work and TL, you should hit against your 70 almost every 5 days, so what better place to reset than home. Thanks for the help and i may be coming over in mid March. Thanks again and have a good day.

A couple drove for New Century. They were real excited. But did'nt last long. What Century fail to mention is u have to physically return the paperwork to the term in NJ and the payroll got very voiceterous to his co pilot so that was enough for them to quit. But that was just them.I would say they probably are a real good company,They require what 2 yrs exp and a good work history?
