Currently with a trainer for Roehl (great company, btw). He uses scrap paper to write his directions on (route is assigned). I'm no good at that. Soooo here's my question .... Is there a gps out there which will allow me to choose my own (assigned) route and not use the one generated by the gps?

Look in the "technology and gadgets" section (or something like that) here on this forum. There is quite a bit of discussion about several of the major trucker GPS units and their capabilities. I think at least the Rand Mcnally models allow you to "drag" a route to the follow the roads/streets you want, but can't say for certain.

None that I know but but most GPS have muilti stop route function if you program in fuel stops then it will most likely take you the approved route. But No GPS is fool proof. PC Miler Rand Mcnally or cobra truck specific GPS would be your best bet but again you should check there routes and company approved route with rand mcnally atlas

I have been sent to many a 11' overpass by a dispatcher. Drive your truck the route YOU feel is best. Sometimes it's more miles, but you get there safe, & you don't have to backup 3.5 miles.:biggrin_25511:
