There are some LTL loads out here being offered that I personally wouldnt consider an LTL but am wandering what do you all consider an LTL? Some things for example I am seeing are a 10-20 ft long 45,000 lb. piece or pieces. How do you not know how long it is for one and thats pretty much all your weight eaten up. BTW it paid a whole whopping 800 bucks, WTF?????? Are brokers sniffing glue??

So you drive across town for $800, how is that a bad deal?
-
If it was across town thats one thing but you gotta be doing crack if you think that going 1000 miles for it is good.
I would like people with experience and not just trolling to please reply -
Thats not LTL but you already know that. Size and weight makes it LTL or not to me. Say 15ft at 19k. Still have room for weight and size so so something like that to me is LTL.
heyns57 and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
If it's 45,000 lb, I don't see how it can be classified LTL?? It's not like you have 50 other boxes weighing 1 oz each with it.

Dollar amount means nothing without some kind of mileage reference.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
I just saw another one, 26 ft x 8 wide by 9 tall 2912 miles and 3000 bucks. it weighed almost 9 grand. At least you could work with that one but 1.03 cpm?
Just want to make sure Im not out of the realm with my thinking. Had one yesterday also that tried to call an OD load, LTL HAHAHAHAH It wasnt enough pay to cover the permits and I dont see it on the board anymore. -
I don't use the phrase LTL I call it less than money.
I don't fool with less than 2.00 a mile freight, like none in the past six months. I did have one at 1.993 a mile but on short miles it was over 2.00VisionLogistics Thanks this. -
LTL is a love hate relationship. One week you do 5 picks and 5 drops and make $5.00 per mile, the next week you got 1.50 on and can't get anything to go with it. The way I do LTL is I find the light small load paying full rate and then add other freight, that way I'm not hauling for a 1.50 worst case, and there have been worst cases. I just went to Seattle out of FL with 4000 lbs and it only took up 10 feet on the bottom deck. It paid $2 to the truck and was just dreaming of the gravy I was gonna put on, but nothing else would work with my time frame.
SHC, Mommas_money_maker and RedForeman Thank this. -
I would have been too..nothing but dreaming sometimes LOL Its been a joke out here in Cali, FLATBEDS/STEPDECKS are coming to die as the new drayage law sucks. Im just trying to LTL my way out of here as my hazmat load decided to not load until next week instead of this week but its been a joke as they call an almost full load, LTL

You should hear about the 40 foot ltl's. The problem I had with them before the minute you get loaded broker starts bothering about when you going to deliver??
