I'm starting at TN Technology Center-Nashville's cdl class on 2/16. My intentions are to post at least weekly on the class. And, I want to say thanks to everyone that's contributed to this forum with all their experiences (both good and bad) and knowledge (good and bad on this too sometimes).

Its a great school, you will be happy with your choice! So are you going to make that drive everyday or just stay in Nashville during the week?? It has to be close to 100 miles one way?

I'm probably going to drive for the majority of the time. Mom's in Springfield, so I may hang w/her some also. Yeah, I know, crazy to drive that far, but there's also another student in the same class that lives in Cookeville and I'm going to ask about maybe carpooling. Oh yeah, from house to school is 85 miles one way.

Good first day. Completed more paperwork. Went over class structure, plans etc. Tomorrow will be a 1/2 day! Got a guest speaker coming in tomorrow @ noon and then a field trip to their local LTL terminal (big company). Later y'all.

What LTL company? They used to take us up to Western Express, but they are a truck load company.

Hey Flatt, It looks like they will be taking your class and the graduating class to the Averritt Terminal tomorrow. I have heard Mr. Bentley and Mr. Webb say it is a great place to go and learn how freight gets shipped. Good luck to all of you .

You are correct sir! Mr. Webb told about an experience going to W/E...said he'd prefer not to go back after what all he saw. Funny story...

Yeah Nashville Driver recommended that school to me. It is great, and at first you will feel rushed but near the end they go through all of the things again. At the last day even the worse drivers in the beginning were able to pass.

Well, Friday's field trip was a no/go. Someone crossed wires somewhere. No big deal. It's been rescheduled. Got to sit in one of the trucks. Been a long time since I'd been behind the wheel of a truck. Wanted to take off in it. LOL! Reviewed reading assignments etc. this morning, 2 tests, 2 quizzes; passed all 4. Cant wait for tomorrow's class...logbooks. :|

@ NewNashGuy, I hear ya. Last Thursday (1st day) I was in class thinkin...how are we cramming all this into the alloted time and got a bit nervous. I got over it though. Things seemed to go alot smoother today. Guess it's just getting in the groove. And the instructors seem to genuinely want to see you do well. Makes a big difference, IMHO.

    Later y'all.

Yesterday and this morning, logbooks. Not as rusty on it as I thought I would be after 15 yrs.! Passed the quiz on it.

Got to get in the field trucks this morning and afternoon. Practicing our straight-line backing.

Found out there's likely going to be some Saturday time in the near future. Hard for 11 people to get seat time at the moment. First quiz on part of PTI, passed.

    Stay safe!

    Later, y'all!
