Sounds like I-80 is fast becoming a route that trucks like to "breakdown" on.

 

keep in mind donner is always one of the deadliest mostlybecause of skiers and such ...watch your speed and leave room

That is true. The fun with pa is that 9% thats 2-3 miles long is usually on a two lane road with either a town with a traffic light or 10mph turn at the bottom. Penndot also doesnt do the best job of paving and pothole repair.

If youre going to be in sac skip the truck stop, set your gps for Bercut cir, lots of street side parking all night and I sugjest Sekuos bbq and sea food they have real tri tip and ribs, with a decent hotel next to them or sleep in your truck.

 

Everyone keeps saying Donner Pass is not that steep. Then why are there trucks with smokeing brakes every week i go over it? What you should be telling someone who has never been over Donner is, Watch your speed! it is a deceiving mountain. It goes down hill from the top of Donner lake to Auburn, about 60 miles. Some spots are not that steep, some are, and there are a few flat spots. you go from 7200 ft elevation to sea level in 80 miles.
