Landstar was the first boker I hauled for when I got my authority.
First year I ran 85,000 miles nad made 75,000 dollars.
These agents ripped me off first two years till I learned how things are done.
MOST of landstars loads are double brokered, I have made up to 500.00 more hauling same load for someone else. landstar was 100% of my bussiness first year and less than 20% this one. I hope less next.
Never load for CQU,ASH and express america isn't on 3 day quick pay mailed check.

You are welcome, buszbait. That may have been the problem that my friend had who wanted to lease to Landstar. Landstar and most other carriers will fax a form for former employers to fill out and fax back to them. Former employers may not get in a hurry to verify information that another carrier requests. Some carriers have gone to an internet verification from their website. -
thought landstar was good

Landstar is good for some and not for others. I would not want to make a blanket statement either way. Landstar worked for me when I leased to them, but I have known others that did not do well with them. As a carrier, some rates are good others are cheap. I have seen mostly cheap offerings this week from them. Last week had some decent paying loads. If you want to lease to Landstar, you can pretty much make out of the relationship what you want. Landstar is rigid in the way in which they do business. If you broker freight through them you can always find another broker who has better rates if they don't have rates that you like. What are you looking for? Do you want to lease to them or broker freight with them? -
Just as I mention many years ago:
Landstar it's the biggest c/r/a/p on trucking industries and the manage to destroy American Dream.
They have the lowest rate in trucking industries, and what ever I could make here locally in one day,as a profit, they can't even match in 3 day.Just remeber PROFIT it's not equal as GROSS.Maybe freedom it's not that great, but what is freedom lately, when everybody know were I am,anyway, right? They say,you have the freedom to choose...........well,choose,from garbage loads to trash loads?
Some people get confuse like:hey,my gross is huge. Then I will tell them, hey your profit is LOW
Just remeber to say NO nu cheap loads and NO to cheap labor. -
There are some who don't seem to understand the difference between revenue or gross and net or profit. I would much rather drive fewer miles with a lower gross and high net than a high gross and low net. I have known owners who think that if they have cash flow that they are making money. There have been many people that have had good cash flow and gone bankrupt.

I applied to landstar but I am only through half the application process. We had a few issues with our truck and decided to have them corrected before finishing the process but I will pick it back up in mid march and hopefullly start orientation by the 1stpeterbilt weel of april.

JJ, all in all I think it is a good company and it is what you make of it. LS application process is about 4 weeks long by the time you get this copied and faxed back, etc. I have been here coming up on 6 months, it took a little bit to learn the system, but i am making money. and not all loads are posted on the load boards either, a lot of the older guys and gals are picking loads straight from agents, some agents also just dont post loads, but have a pool of drivers that they utilize. Let me know if I can be any help.scottied67, starsonwindow and jess-juju Thank this.

That's why its important to be more than just another truck number when you talk to LS agents. Get to know them, befriend them and it will pay off. You'll also quickly learn who the scammers are and who the legitimate agents are.scottied67, WatsonDL1 and jjranch Thank this.

"Unless I've got a driver who dedicates to a lane for me, all of my loads hit our boards regardless of the pay, and that's typically what you'll see with every agent"
This is different from what you posted before.WatsonDL1 Thanks this.
