Just reality. I check the forum most mornings to find veteran drivers telling the rooks how it's done. Don't pretend all the drivers with 10, 20, 30 years experience are all humble, because many on here laugh at and criticize rookies daily.

I usually stick up for the newbies if I feel they are being unfairly attacked by the veterans. But saying "Not one" experienced driver acts like a know it all is simply not true.

***REVISION TO ORIGINAL POST*** most of the Ole Crusty's here do not have "airs" about them. Yes, they do have fun with newbies who ask "stupid questions" such as references o drug testing or felony convictions. But if a newbie comes to the table with a legitimate question they are more than willing to share their advice.

Any recommendations from anyone what to do if my Hubby hasn't been paid for a run he did going on 8 weeks now? This happened during his first couple months of employment with this Company- that we won't mention.

He was waiting for his trailer to be unloaded to get the BOL and get a new trailer. After hours of the trailer sitting there in the loading dock he went to check on it and they said, "they'd have it for him soon". A couple more hours go by (he should have never been there this long as it's been all day by now) he goes back up to get the BOL and gets stopped by the guard asking him what he needed. He explained and the guard told him the person he could get it from went home for the day. The guard was furious that this happened and instructed him to go ahead and take a different trailer off the lot and he'd have to come back to get it (the BOL) tomorrow.

He was out of driving hours by this time and called his Fleet Manager who told him to just find the nearest place to park and not worry about the BOL, they'd get a copy of it.

Since then, he has been reminding the "3" different fleet Mgrs. he's been assigned to that he'd like to be paid for that job (which was about $125 haul) and the company keeps telling him they are working on it, but are having troubles getting a copy of it. I personally don't understand why they'd have so much trouble, but either way they know how many miles he drove to get there and that is "was" delivered or they surely would have heard about it. So, I think they should have paid him that 1st week or asked him to get it the 2nd time he was there.

I won't name names, but this Customer is a huge client of the companies, so doesn't this sound like BS to you? Also, he delivered there again about 2 weeks after this incident and the same thing almost happened again, except for that my Hubby didn't wait in his cab this time, he stood up by the dock waiting for hours for them to unload the trailer and it just so happened the same guard was there and couldn't believe that he was there that late again! Had he "not" stood up there he wouldn't have got his BOL again and if his fleet Manager wouldn't have made it sound like he'd get paid that week, he'd have asked for his previous one then too!

So, my honey, who doesn't like conflict must have had enough because he's going to be right by there again on Sunday and says he's going to stop in there and ask for the original BOL he hasn't been paid for!:biggrin_2559: What do you think of this idea? It shocks the h**l out of me!:biggrin_25525:

Really....I think his company is blowing smoke up his #####!! He's a great driver, is always on time, does everything by the book, never complains. I'll tell you, if "I" was him, they'd know who I was when I called by now! He puts up with so much BS working there! His truck has well over 700k miles on it and "always" has something wrong with it (to the point it's almost re-built) that they're in no hurry to fix (and twice it was the heat, so one night he just froze because his truck wouldn't stay idling like the mechanic told him to do). They also told him he can't get the 1st quarter bonus' that he qualified for, because he missed the start of the quarter by 3-4 days (when hired). The list goes on and on but it's always some BS!!

Is it just me, or would you other drivers have a problem with the stuff I've mentioned too? If so, what would you do about it?

    -Thanks for your input

Well that's alot to say and reply to, but here goes.
In the trucking/shipping world the "bills" are EVERYTHING if you don't have the bill it didn't happen! In other words the only proof your hubby had was the BOL when that gets lost he has no proof that load was ever delivered, we know it was and so does his company BUT they need the all importent BOL with ### and signature.
At this time all he can do is keep asking about it but be forewarned! Some managers have been known to urge complainers to quit. I think that pay might some day be in his cheack but I wouldn't bet on that.
When going to the problem customer I'd make a copy of the BOL for my self.
The 1/4 bonus, rules are rules. A year from now is it going to matter?
