I do intend to stay in trucking but I do not believe my sketchy back would hold up in LTL.

This is Not gonna be a "kick the company" post. I simply wanna share the way I was able to leave the company with fellow drivers. Particularly useful info for Florida drivers.
For me, once I found out from the lady (can't remember her name) that handles signing up for regional fleets, that I would Never be eligable to drive Southeast Regional, my time here was destined to end. This was approx. 6 months ago. You see Florida residents are not eligable to drive on any regional fleets. She made that perfectly clear. My intentions entering trucking have Always been to as soon as possible morph into a regional driving position. OTR and Canada were just necessary evils to get my foot into the industry door. Had I known in advance of hiring on with Con-way that I would be ineligable for Southeast Regional here, I probably would have started with a different company if one exists that I could have transitioned into regional with. I knew Con-way had a Southeast Regional when I came here I just Assumed (very bad thing to do) that I would not be excluded.
So I accepted the situation for what it was, an experience gathering adventure. Leaving just became a matter of when. I did not leave home this time out intending for my time here to end But there were indicators that had me on High Alert. I have been married to my beloved spouse for 31 years and I could tell that the onset of Winter Driving had ramped up her stress levels significantly. I was hoping to make it thru this winter and likely make my exodus prior to next winter. But as fate would have it, I got stuck running what I call "Great Lakes Regional" this time out. My wife and I made a decision months ago that I would turn my phone off when I had to go into Canada. I had it on the first time I went to Canada last spring and my cell phone bill spiked significantly. Well the perfect storm came together. First there was a dispatch to Mississauga, Ontario which involved one overnite in Canada. The wife unable to check on me combined with her fears of the winter driving were not a good combination. So I get back out and have a series of short runs that get me down to Shreveport, La where I picked up a relay headed to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Well this run i had to take a reset in Canada (had an hour and a half left on my 70 and picked up nothing the next day). So I spent two nights in Canada. Got dispatched with a paper load from New Brunswick down to Connecticut and while waiting to deliver I get the next preplan right back up into Canada:biggrin_25513:. At this point my wife was in full blown panic mode, so I made the call and the company refused to take the load off me. So I tendered my resignation. They unassigned the third Canada load and said they would work me to a terminal to turn in the truck.
I requested that they work me to a terminal close to home since I had Alot more personal belongings on the truck than I could transport via GreyDog. So my FM said she'd try to get me down to Atlanta or Jacksonville which Are acceptable places to turn in a truck. I said I was willing to do what ever it took and that there was no time-line on my part. Oops! Picked up a load in NW Connecticut from a broken down driver and delivered it On-time to Plainfield. In. DH up to just short of Chicago and picked up a load and took it to Chicago Terminal. Grabbed a relay at Chicago terminal headed for Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec. Picked up a load in Ste. Claire, Quebec headed down to Crossville, Tn. (3 more nights in Canada) Not particullarly cool but not a peep out of me. And a CWF load from Nashville to CWF in Jacksonville.
My wife met me in Jacksonville and even tho I delivered to CWF there, they have you turn in the truck at the KW dealership which is only a couple miles away. The KW folks were cool, they allow you to take all the time you need to clear out the truck. Talked to safety and they had me just mail in my company issued cards via Trippak. That is how things went for me. Hope there is some useful info to be gleaned from this post.

I know a couple of people who live in Florida that are on regional, problem is they hold onto it and don't give it up, no openings. I have always wondered how it would go once notice is given, thanks for that play by play, XLS. I have come close to giving my notice a couple of times.

XLS you sorry sack of... I'm just kidding man, I wish you all the best in you future endeavors. I can completely understand the putting up with necessary evils in the industry, and your exit from the company is exactly the way it should be done by a professional. Goodluck, and keep us posted even if you are a turncoat lmao.

BTW. Ellensburg, WA. After speaking with my advisory comittee I decided this was the best place to take my 34 with limited parking in the Seattle area, and what appears to be a storm coming in at Snoqualmie Pass.

**EDIT NOTE** Got Paul and XLS confused lol.

Not really Mustang, unless it is being sick and trying to find a new place to live from 3000 miles away.
