Most of the new drivers at Maverick are getting 2012.cascadia's which have an apu on them. Super nice.trucks!
They are super quiet, insulated to keep you comfortable, and have air bags under the front axle's so they are smooth!

As for an update on PGT, hotel is nice enough, as are the people I have talked too so far. Hope tomorrow goes well, I am ready to get rolling. -
Well I consider day 1 t PGT to be a success, didn't destroy anything, and I didn't get sent home like a coupe of others. It was nothing serious if I am honest. I just tend to be hard on myself.
Straight 10 is definitely going to take some getting use to. I wanted to kick my own ### for trying to go from 5th to reverse every time. Gears are very close together too. Was no easing into the clutch either, so could just be that its an older truck needing some work.
As for the truck, the old 9400's really are small, but i got to take a look in one of the brand new prostars and it was very nice. Anyhow back to the 9400... I must say I was impressed at the power of it. They are governed at 64, but no ridiculous rpm limiter, or reduced hp. With the 9k lb trailer on the back, it felt more powerful than bob tailing the century I had. Even though it has the smaller sleeper, I will be happy knowing i dont have to crawl over every hill. With pay being percentage based, speed does not mean quite as much either. It seems like PGT freight is not near as time sensitive as CRE was. All the people, and other driver's are very friendly, but still serious.
Just anxious to get finished with training and get back out there to master that 10 speed. Though the jury is still out on weather it will replace the 13/18 as my fav trans. -
Good luck, I have been driving flatbed for about 20 + years. And it can wear your body down. I now haul Maxis in OR (105,500#) with a A train (40' lead and 24' pup) mostly lumber and hay. You will find that most places are open 6 to 7 am - 3 to 5pm depending on if its a mill or a retail location. Just remember to throw an extra strap for the DOT.
