Ok boys and girls. I've just boarded the bus. I'm on my way to Ft. Worth. I should get there around 2:30 tomorrow. This bus is small and it has no outlets for charging so I'll post again once I get there. Hope you all are having a good day. As mine will be long lol.

Not getting paid for trips, no miles, and getting talk down to are just some of the starters....

Good luck to all you current Academy students or those just going in. It is a fast paced 2 1/2 weeks, and the most important thing to remember is to give your instructors respect, and keep your mind open to learning THEIR techniques.

Also, DONT be like some former students...a good mindset to have is, "I may have some experience driving and thinking and want to learn the best I can to translate my prior life experiences into truck driving"; NOT "I dont know nuthin about anything, please hold my hand", OR "I have a CDL, you cant teach me ####, just get the hell out of my way".

Either of the latter attitudes will have you fuming on a bus ride home, or worse, sitting on the curb trying to figure out "who else can I call to apply to..."

The instructors are great teachers, each different in methods, soak it all up, figure out how you best learn, and carefully show your accomplishments. It seems like the Academy is running smoother now than it was when we went through. (First class of 2012!)

I am in my 5th week of OTR training, have got a great teacher that works like I do...getting close to that finish line, trucking sucks sometimes, but "I'm Lovin It".

I would argue your first point. Those of us who signed before they sold the dry freight division signed on with ALL three companies under Conwell. American Eagle, Lisa, and FFE. Our class was told how much we would average in pay, and how many loads were being turned down.

If they KNEW they were going to sell the dry freight division, which is where the big miles were as well as mostly D&H, and didnt disclose this before we signed, and if they didnt ask those who signed before selling if we had an issue with the contracts, then it falls on them and the contract is void.

It is called, failure to disclose.

New people dont have this, but older classes do.

You probably don't need this info by now, but you will never have to worry about parking in Oklahoma City. This city is literally covered with truck stops and there is usually available parking in almost any part of this city: N, S, E or W.

if possible i try to avoid ok city truck stops. too much drama and lot lizards. had to bite the bullet and staid at the pilot @ exit 140 on I40. was only solicited once so my sleep wasnt disturbed as bad as i thought it would have been. someone's been spreading the rumors that FFE drivers carry alot of dough and dont mind spreading it around!

funny thing is i saw the lot lizard walking westbound i-40 in the morning as i sped past her on the way to dodge city!
