It does not appear that HE is the one that is having problems understanding simple logical statements: particularly since MOST of the people posting in this thread have confused ILLEGAL ALIENS with Mexican Nationals who (will) LEGALLY enter this country while in employment for a Mexican Carrier involved in "Cross-Border" trucking. THOSE SAME people seem constitutionally incapable of grasping the idea that all those "Mexican Nationals" lawfully employed MUST meet ALL the requirements that have been set forth in this "Pilot Program".

This is another fine example of non-sequitur responses coming from the Left today. THIS statement has NOTHING to do with this thread and if you wish to discuss your conspiracy theories, please post in the appropriate thread...

See my above response....
I know NO-ONE who is against ALL immigration, unless they are totally ignorant and live in some backwoods somewhere. Everyone I know wants ALL immigrants to do so legally, including my (Liberal) brother-in-law, who is a legal alien from Great Brittan. BTW, he played 'house-husband' for three years waiting for his green-card so he could get a job. And he didn't get a job picking lettuce or finishing drywall, he has a MBA in Business.

I can find more glaring examples of TREASON by looking at the likes of Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats, but again that is a topic for a different thread.

*Just because the load didn't originate in the US doesn't mean that it wasn't going to be driven by a US driver. ANY freight hauled within the US, driven by someone who is NOT A US CITIZEN, steals miles and pay from American drivers... Yes, the Canadians steal freight from us (we're fine with that though, because who really wants to cross that border anyway?)

If you travel to one of these places (Laredo, El Paso, Otay Mesa Rd - you know it if you've been there, Brownsville) you will see a BOOMING cross-border INDUSTRY based ENTIRELY off the relay system. You start trucking it directly to the reciever, and you choke off an entire industry. Laredo is only as big as it is due to the trucking activity there. How fast would a city like Laredo shrivel and die if the relays stop?

Everyone is forgetting that we are talking about more than just trucking being affected here, it spans beyond just us... Once again, people fail to realize the ramifications of their own actions, others just don't care.

The costs savings will never be passed down to the consumer. Do you think that when Hershey opens it's plant in Mexico that a Hershey bar will suddenly be $0.50 again?? What other product have you seen do that? I sure haven't seen anything get cheaper by moving production, or shifting transportation.

The reason the prices do not shift is simple:
1 ) Big corporations move south.
2 ) Big corporations save fistfulls of cash.
3 ) Big corporations pass only an infantecimal amount of that on to places like Wal-Mart
4 ) Wal-Mart is already the cheapest because of their own shady practices, why pass it on?

THAT'S why we need to fight to keep the freight on American trucks. Pretty soon there won't be a whole lot of other industries left, and I can tell you one thing... Most of us would never last in a service industry. Picture a truck driver suddenly having to spend all day on a pho.... CRAP, those got outsourced....

McDonalds FTW!!!

NO THANKS! Cancel NAFTA, Outlaw subsidies, bring our work home to our people.

Okay let's cancel NAFTA.

Let's have Mexico put the tariffs on imported goods from the U.S. that were in place prior to NAFTA. 20% or 30% tariffs wouldn't harm U.S. business and agriculture exports.
Let's let Mexican companies steal software and mass produce it, computer software companies in the U.S. won't mind.
Let's do the same for the pharmaceutical companies, after all, if that pill looks like Viagra, it probably is safe.
Let's repeal NAFTA, the automakers won't mind the dip in their sales, which has skyrocketed in Mexico since the inception of NAFTA. After all their industry is so robust they don't need new places to sell cars or parts.

Let's block all the people who grow fruit, vegetables and grain from being able to compete on a level playing field, if Mexico wants to slap tariffs on produce and grain, let them.

As far as Laredo is concerned, why do you suppose their is such a booming cross border business? Could it be that since NAFTA, exports to, and imports from Mexico have gone through the roof?
The people who make their living moving freight from Mexican trucks to U.S. trucks are indispensable to the flow of goods?
At one time in this country, Telegraph Operators, Ferry Boat Captains and Bank Tellers were thought to be indispensable. What happened to them? We now pick up a phone, we cross a bridge, and we go to the ATM. Our country did not collapse due to the loss of those jobs, and it won't collapse if their are no trucks to ferry things across the border.

All I can say is that people say illegal imm. do jobs americans don't want to do but in my opinion trucking is not one of them. How much are these mex. drivers making? And how long will it be before the major comp.in this country start using them to make more money? When I was in the construction bus. I had a electrical cont. tell me he's hiring mex. because amer. want to make to much money.I looked at his new ford duelly p/u and said"maybe they want to do more than just survive maybe they want the same things YOU want!"All I can say is when these mex. stop at a t/s for the night they better do a good pre-trip before they leave the next morning.I've met some very po'ed drivers lately

Most people including myself will not say that NAFTA is all wrong, but why do we have to allow them to take away another industry from the American people so big corporations can make an extra dollar that is never being passed on to the American people. If you haven't noticed by now things get more expensive every year not cheaper due to NAFTA. Show me where we save money by taking freight from American Drivers, come on show me, you won't, you'll complain that I didn't dot an i correctly instead.

It's the North American Free Trade Agreement not the make more money for Big Corporation and the Mexican workers agreement. It's not a free trade when we allow people from another country to come here and do the work we Americans can do and don't tell me that Americans don't want to do the work, show me one trucker who would turn down the money and I'll show you a lazy piece of crap who just dosen't want to work anyway. My opinion anyone who supports this cross border trucking has found a way to make money from it or they wouldn't support it.

Watch what happens to these border towns who depend greatly on the transfer of goods across the border, within a year or two these people won't have a job because there won't be a need for their services, of course you'll say none of them will get hurt by this either.

PS. And oh yeah unemployemnt has risen 1% over the last year in the USA, lets see what happens over the next year.

Please show me where it has risen 1 percent.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/laus.nr0.htm

The Dems are going to make it rise, they raised the
minumum wage so people will get laid off, but one percent?

Hmmm, posted 2 days ago:

<qoute from Ronnecomot> I'm done with this thread. <end quote>

But then 20 hours ago:

<quote from Ronnocomot> Okay let's.... snipped ....the border. <end quote>

How can anyone trust a liar?

BTY, where I currently work, there USE TO be 3 shifts working in production, with overtime on Saturdays fairly often. Now there's only 2 shifts, and hardly any overtime. But thanks to NAFTA, those AMERICAN jobs are gone. Guess where they went?
