I don't know that there is a recruiter with enough time on their hands to hack your computer history to decide if your a " good candidate" or not. I think its a bit far fetched........ Just my opinion!
Be wary about giving your email addy to recruiters

That's why it's also a good idea to have at lease 2 email address.
-
you still give the email addy from your last incident? Quit using it.
Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
Tech. Companies have been doing this for years. Other industries are starting to do it also. It doesn't matter free speech has nothing to do with it. They can turn you down for any reason they want as long as it doesn't violate EOE laws. All you need is a name and a email, google it, you would be surprised how much you can find. Most companies farm out background checks to companies that specialize in it, and this is now a service they offer. If you don't want someone to find out you said it or did it, don't post it online. My old company turned down a person because of drunk pictures on facebook the guy posted.

I hate when people use this line.
If you were talking negative about certain things they can take that into consideration. Why hire somebody with a negative attitude.
Anybody can find info using your IP its not hard. Free country as you say.
Now I don't know both sides nor am I taking one. Just playing devils advocate as I have been Olin the ops position but under different circumstances

He not only posted this a month ago, but he posted it twice now. I think he's just looking for someone to pay attention to him.

Again, he got my e.mail and IP from the app I filled out online - not
this or any other website.
When I filled out the app I included my e.mail for fast response.
From that he can also get your IP address no matter how many
e.mail addys you have.
Armed with that information he can look up your internet history
if they have the right software.
Apparently they are doing this nowadays.
Yet more hoops you hafta jump thru - or avoid - to drive a truck. -
I'm just tryin to give you a heads' up.
But - as I have found thru the years - you can tell a truck driver
the sky is blue and he will argue that it's green every time.
Unless you're a recruiter yourself??,,,Last edited by a moderator: Feb 19, 2012

Not sure where the beware of filling in online apps comes from, looks more like, beware what you post online as potential employers are checking...
And it's not a freedom of speech issue, they're not keeping you from saying anything...You're free to speak your mind and they're free to hear it and decide whether they want someone like you working for them...
>>>> Needless to say I have since lost interest in this carrier.
So what you're saying is they made the right decision not hiring you...AXE Thanks this.
