I thought we were heading in the right direction?? It all depends on what YOU'RE driving. Unless otherwise specified the law reads " While operating a CMV the BAC can not exceed .04". If you're in your own car it's .08 like everyone else. If the state has changed that law it will read "The BAC while holding a CDL is .04 for any vehicle".

Dont drink and drive. It should not even be a thought in anyones head. Just a dumb thing to do in my book, no matter how much you drank.

no laws need changing. the fact you were caught drinking and driving while in ANY vehicle shows your lack of judgement as a professional truck driver. there simply is no excuse for drinking and driving. if you have an excuse now behind a 3000 pound car then itll lead to a even better excuse behind the wheel of a 80,000 pound missile. and quite frankly thats why thier are laws!!!

Personally, I think anyone that is caught drinking and driving should lose their license forever...never get them back..there's no excuse for it..it's not an accident, the drunk driver intentionally made that decision. If you don't have a ride home, then dont drink. If you have to drink when you go out, then stay home.
I'm sure alot will disagree with me, but I have my reasons for feeling this way.
I may be called alot of things in my life, but if anyone ever tells you i got caught drunk driving, slap the **** out of em for lying..lol

You got a DUI, therefore you lost your license.....I guess some things DO still work in the country. Good riddance

Fortunately that is a myth. When I was with ISP we went thru all this at the academy. Several of us were made to use mouthwash and actually swallow it. At first it gives a positive reading, but 15 min later it is gone. Alcohol will remain in your system for around 45 min per 12 ounces.

Side note, alcohol has no smell. You always have to refer to it as an alcoholic beverage.

i thought it was .08 also. but my lawyer said .04 if you license says cdl.

i'll say this though. while it was nice that i got every penny back as far as the state was concerned. in getting my license back and all. i really loved spending $1750 for the lawyer then never had to appear in court. and $250 to get my car out of impound.

2 years ago. that cop finally lost his job. and it took a 59 year old diabetic lady charged with dui drugs to make it happen.

There is NO excuse for drinkin and driving. That is a period back there. If anyone kills anyone I love or care about because they are drunk or high, well, let's just say the courts will be the least of your worries..

Now,this is coming from someone who is NOT perfect,as I got a couple dui's 32 years ago,and which continue,to this day, occasionally bite me in the ###.Still, looking back,I thank God no one was killed or maimed,as this would be unbearable to me now.

BTW,for everytime I got caught,I figure I got away with it 500 times..The courts...also know this.. If you only drink and drive once and get caught, you are either the unluckiest person around,or,you are full of ####..

My wife lost her brother 22 years ago to a drunk driver. It bothers me dearly when I get paged out for an accident and have to treat drunk drivers. But, I have to deal with it privately after each call.
